REPS Experienced Teachers
Teacher Chip (Primary English Teacher)
T. Chip is from the U.S. and he has been in REPS for
approximately 9 years. He mostly enjoys seeing the
developing process of his students. He likes to spend
time with his family, ride his bike or sometimes go for a
run. He thinks there should be more activities for the
kids since they don't get to spend their time outdoors
really often.
Teacher Chip
Teacher Kwanwi-on (Primary ICT Teacher)
She is a very calm teacher and everyone loves her.
T. Kwanwi-on’s best moment in REPS is getting to
stay and interact with the kids and staff in various
activities. Teacher Kwanwi-on thinks that there
should be activities where the seniors and juniors
can build up stronger relationships since everyone is
quite separated from each other.
Teacher Kwanwi-on
Teacher Ann (Primary Reading Teacher)
The kitchen to her is like heaven. She loves to bake for
herself and her friends and she even designs her own
bread and cookies! Teacher Anne really loves chocolate
and every time she feels there is chocolate near her she
just can’t help but find out who has it. She would very
much like for the children to have a ‘Kids’ Healthy Recipe’-
and activites to promote healthy eating among the
youngsters.
REPS Experienced Teachers
Teacher David Clarke (Primary English Teacher)
He really likes to go to the beach and he also likes
to watch movies a lot! His best moments in REPS is
seeing children who were not capable in English
become more comfortable in the language and
gain more confidence while speaking the language.
Even though it’s just an idea, he suggests having a
Falconry Club in REPS.
Teacher David (DC)
Teacher Kwandao (Thai Head of Secondary)
Her favorite Thai food is Som-Tum. She’s a really
busy person so she doesn’t really have free time but
when she does, she likes to watch TV, relax and
spend most of her time at home. She really likes the
color light blue! She says that every time she looks
at the color it gives her a refreshing feeling.
T. Kwandao thinks that the students in REPS are
quite stressed with all the studying so she thinks
that there should be relaxing activities for the students
too.
Teacher Kwandao
Teacher Fon (Secondary teacher)
Teacher Fon has been teaching here at REPS for
approximately 3 years and she is currently teaching
Thai Math and Careers. She feels that some of the
changes in REPS are quite surprising and exciting and
it gives her a great experience in working. T. Fon feels
that her best moments here are all the students at
REPS being very friendly and she feels very grateful to
teach everyone. When T. Fon was younger, her role
model was inspiring people that wear polite uniforms.
Whenever she has some time to herself, she will
prepare her lessons ahead, sometimes she goes to the
movies, and she also loves shopping.
REPS Experienced Teachers
Teacher Pakrong (Secondary ICT Teacher)
T. Pakrong has been with us since the school started
about 12 years ago. He believes that the school has
improved in many ways including its facilities, buildings
and convenience. “I think that my best moments in
REPS was right at the start when there were only a
few students, the school felt as if it were a family.”
T. Pakrong is currently teaching ICT and sciences. In his
free time he likes to research and study about more
things to improve himself and sometimes he needs to
prepare classes for students.
Teacher Prakong
Teacher Cherrie (Head of Secondary Science )
She teaches all science subjects including science
for M.3 and M.2 and she also teaches Chemistry
for M.4-6. She has been a great science teacher
for around 5 years (this is her fifth year here at
REPS). Teacher Cherrie enjoys reading books
when she is free and she also occasionally watches
movies.
Teacher Cherrie
Teacher David (Secondary Business and Travel)
T. David has been at REPS for 9 years. After all
these years, he feels proud of the changes at
REPS because the school started very small and
has now grown and become successful. His best
moment in REPS was the 10 year anniversary
celebration because he got to witness and be a
part of the success of the school. During his free
time, he likes to play football, run and read
books.
English Success in REPS
English Success is Serious at REPS
At REPS we take learning seriously. In addition to math support for
our struggling learners and the Gifted and Talented Program for our
high achievers, we also offer an English and Reading Support
Program in secondary. Here our teachers work with students from
M1 – M4 who find some aspects of English difficult, whether it is
reading comprehension, vocabulary building, or just speaking
practice. Teachers work with students in one-to-one sessions twice
or three times per week depending on the proficiency level of the
student. As a part of the Secondary English Department, this
program is closely monitored and there is much collaboration
between the English teachers and the support staff.
Reading Room
Ready, READ, Learn!
REPS truly believes that reading is the most important skill of all. Thus the implementation of the
school’s notable project that has been creating great impact on the students’ learning: the Primary
English Reading Program. This program which started 6 years ago is based on the concept that
each student has individual strengths and needs. The program is therefore designed for
individualized learning where instruction is differentiated in order for strong students to further
excel and underperforming students to catch up with their classmates’ abilities and eventually also
perform well in class. It particularly aims at building the students’ confidence in their ability to read,
developing the learners’ phonological patterns and awareness, improving their skills in decoding
words and enhancing their reading comprehension. The program doesn’t only improve the
students’ reading ability, but also helps enhance the learners’ vocabulary, listening and speaking
skills as they get the chance to ask and answer comprehension questions orally using the target
language.
In this program, every student reads with a teacher on a one-to-one basis. This takes place in the
Reading Center which is a suitable environment outside the general classroom. The Center is
equipped with teacher-produced materials and various resources and books that are published in
the UK such as Oxford Reading Tree and Sails Literacy Series. Every student’s reading skill is
assessed by a reading teacher, their strengths and needs identified and will be given a reading level
of 0-10. Underperforming students are then given regular help by reading teachers through
lunchtime reading. Once the student achieves reading fluency, they will be classified as
independent readers.
REPS is extremely proud of the Reading Program’s contribution in the development of the students’
literacy and fluency. It has also increased the subject teacher’s productivity in all subjects that are
taught in English. Its impact on the students’ learning is reflected in REPS’ impressive English O-NET
scores over the last couple of years. The program has also made it easier for the students to take
advantage of the benefits and overcome the challenges of bilingual education. Truly we can say
that with our English Reading Program, students’ literacy and fluency will continue to improve and
help our students achieve academic success. We encourage parents to monitor their children’s
progress on the reading charts outside the Reading Center.
Product to University
REPS Continues to Produce Top University Entrants
Like all previous years, our students graduating
from REPS have managed to get into the top
universities of Thailand including: Mahidol University,
Thammasat University and even universities in
foreign countries.
Our students have had many advantages compared
to most other Thai students. Because they have
more abilities and stronger skills in English, it was
easier for them to get accepted by top universities,
which are seeking English-speaking students to
strengthen their curriculum and possess the ability
to think creatively, communicate effectively, and
collaborate effectively.
This year has been no different; once again, our
students have performed extremely well. This year
some of our students have been offered full
scholarships from Sirinthorn International Institute
of Technology (SIIT) at Thammasat University,
some have passed the exams to Thammasat English
Programme of Engineering (TEPE), Faculty of
Engineering at Thammasat University, some have
been offered scholarships from various faculties at
Mahidol University, some have been accepted to
Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai, and other
are awaiting results.
Dream
Nikolas
Dream: “Before my exams and interviews, I tried to
rest as much as possible to be able to feel relaxed and
build confidence. You also need to know what exactly
is required in applying for university so you need to
spend a lot of time researching.”
Nikolas: “I didn’t know much about universities and
the tests but my friends guided me quite a lot. Even
though I felt confident for the entrance exams, it was
so much more difficult than I expected. I was very
proud of myself when I found out that I got accepted.
I learned that the universities mainly seek students
who have good mentality and is capable of communicating,
which REPS prepared me for.”
Latin
Latin: “To know which university I will be applying
to, I did a lot of research to find universities that
have the faculty that I am interested in, a good
environment and good education. Before each
test I just reviewed what I have learnt because
most of the questions in the test have been taught
at school.”
Kitty: “Before my
interview I practiced
a lot to improve
my speaking. Because
I used the quota
program from the
school, I didn’t need
to sit any test and
my average GPA
needed to be above
3.0.”
Mattayom 6 Jackets
REPS 03:
The student Jackets for M6
This year our M6 students received jackets as a token
to remember their years at REPS. The students chose
the number 03 to represent the 3 graduating class of
REPS. The colors, of course, are also reminiscence of
REPS.
The M6 students feel that it is comfortable and they
think it’s cool to wear because they’re proud of their
school. Many claim that the design of the jacket is
beautiful.
Alice in Wonderland
Modish Alice @ Wonderland
Another Year, Another Production
REPS has been successful in our past musical productions, including The Lion King, Hairspray, and many
others. It has always been fun to participate in and very entertaining for the audience to watch. This year
REPS is continuing its tradition of successful musicals by putting on another show called “Modish Alice @
Wonderland”. This musical is a modern version of the classic story of Alice in Wonderland.
Our students have been working really hard, preparing themselves in a number of ways for the upcoming
school musical. The cast consists of a combination of secondary students from both lower and upper
secondary, and the chorus comprises of some of our P6 students. The rehearsals are intensive and include
acting, dancing, and singing. The producer and director of this production is Teacher Amy, and Teacher
Jessie is in charge of all the singing.
With help from our dedicated teachers, support from all the staff and managers, and the determination and
hard work of the cast, this year’s production is sure to be a success. Coming in February 2016, make sure you
don’t miss out!
Secondary Science Trips
Secondary Science Trips 2015
Between November 9 and 11, REPS provided its annual science Trips to students from M1-M6. This year
the students in M2-M6 visited Prachuabkirikhan, a camp called Whar Kor which is also the location where
Rama 4 (Phra Bat Somdet Phra Poramenthra Maha Mongkut Phra Chom Klao Chao Yu Hua) had correctly
predicted that a Lunar Eclipse would occur.
The camp coordinators made sure there were enough activities to keep the students active. There were
various activities for the students to take part in such as bird watching, exploring the galaxy, learning the
history and awards of each famous scientist, and getting to learn about the commonly known constellations.
As teamwork, students were separated into small groups and had the opportunity to learn how to
construct a motor-car Lego machine and how to set up a program in order to get the machine moving in
the right moment and time. On the last day, the people at the camp brought us to the aquarium to give us
knowledge about different kinds of living things that live under the water world. Though exhausting, it
was a trip to remember.
Secondary Science Trips
On November 11,
the M1 students went to Samaesarn on their
science trip. The main activities that they
participated in were snorkeling and planting
corals. The M.1 students also had the
opportunity to work in a lab to investigate
new things. The staff explained a lot of new
information to our students about coral
conservation and their importance.
Even though it was just a day trip
the M1 students had fun and
learned a lot.
Football matches
Rocking on boats on their way to their football matches!
Previously the REPS girls football team traveled a long way to Samut Prakarn to
participate in a big region tournament! All the players went their with full potential and
motivation! Not only did they girls compete in the big tournament but they also learned
to stay in a different shelter that was out of their comfort zones!
Their nature surrounded Home-stay
The place where they rested their heads was surrounded by a long lake and and fresh
forests full of green trees! It was a whole different view from Banchang where it is full
of buildings and cars, instead the girls saw boats and numerous types of trees! The natural
environment wasn’t even the best part, the view of river plus the sunsets both
nights of the stay was absolutely amazing! The combination of beautiful colours of the
sky and sun was very warm and attractive. The sunsets always reflected on the still
clear river during the evenings it was just marvelous!
Not only the sky and the views were amazing but the people who took care of the girls
football team there were very kind and caring, they cooked a lot of nice food for everyone
to feast on for every meal for a total of 2 nights and 3 days! The girls all slept together
in one big room on the wooden floor, which was quite different from their beds
at home but they were fine with it. At the end of the stay, the girls all planted a tree
each and poured natural fertilizers into the river and took a nice photo with all the
staffs that worked at the lovely home-stay.
bring a small toy, teddy bear or gift to put on the tree at the entrance
Super Dad Rice Run
To celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Bumibhol, REPS decided to do something a
bit different this year. Following the giving spirit of the King, REPS celebrated Fathers’ Day
on December 4th with a Super Dad Charity Rice Run. For four days, students and parents
kindly brought in rice to donate to 3 local charities. The Boonchoo Children’s Home, The
Mercy Center of Pattaya and Hand-to-Hand Pattaya were the 3 charities selected by the
REPS Student Council Representatives and were invited to the ceremony to receive the
rice. Students, parents and teachers donated an amazing 3,586 kilograms!!! After paying
respects to His Majesty, REPS fathers and their children were invited to participate in a 2
kilometer fun run dressed as their favorite Super Heroes. Overall, it was a fun filled
rewarding celebration that brought out the kind hearts of everyone in our REPS family.
