company news information research One of the unsung jewels in FTI’s crown is our outstanding access to a wide range of online resources, which can be of invaluable assistance in your work. Curated by our information Research Manager Chris Finch, we are now able to access over 100 databases, newspapers, journals and periodicals, on both a subscription and pay as you go basis. All of the resources are listed on Atlas (on the Information Resources page), and are easily searchable across both service and industry lines. They range from the large news aggregators, such as Bloomberg, Factiva and Thomson Reuters, to niche services such as Gaming Intelligence, which focuses on the online gaming sector, or De Havilland, which monitors news out of Brussels and Parliament. We also have access to a range of market research publishers, including those which focus on a range of industries such as Datamonitor and Euromonitor, as well as specialist industry research agencies. If you would like to access any of these resources, or training on how to use them, please speak with Chris who will be delighted to help. Chris Finch mobile upgrade In early 2016, our employees in London will enjoy a greatly enhanced corporate mobile phone service, thanks to our IT team who have agreed a new contract with provider EE. The new deal provides for a number of significant improvements in our daily phone usage, including: • An end to unexpectedly high bills: A number of segments have experienced considerable ‘bill shock’ in recent months when employees were roaming overseas. The new contract will in principle stop this from happening in the future. • Greater data bundle and better handsets. The previous contract was not ‘smart device’ friendly as it was designed for the old BlackBerry models. Now everyone will get 8GB of national data usage per month, which will allow us to give smart devices to each user. • Pooled data when roaming: We will be able to pool our international roaming bundle across all employees, which will enable us to flatten costs within and across segments. • Technology fund: EE have provided a considerable technology fund that will enable us to replace our aging mobile estate in London. • Mobile management portal: You will now be able to access a new portal to view monthly spend, allocate relevant costs back to clients and upgrade to the latest mobile devices when appropriate. In the coming weeks we will work with EE to replace all of the older devices currently still in use, and eligible employees will be able to choose from the latest BlackBerry models on the market such as Classic, Priv or Leap. This new contract represents a significant step forward in our IT infrastructure. Not only will it benefit all segments by keeping the costs as low and predictable as possible, but it will also allow our business to be fully mobileenabled as we continue to expand. Learning & Development Having welcomed our new EMEA Learning and Development (L&D) Manager, Sophie Mann, we are moving into a new phase for 2016. Working with the cross segment training committee we are continuing to develop our strategy, which combines many different elements of learning to offer you robust and holistic development whilst ultimately supporting Our forthcoming sessions are; the expansion and success of FTI’s business performance. We have listened to your feedback and are pleased to introduce a refreshed and more tailored approach to the curriculum. Existing topics will remain and will incorporate more practical exercises to help you to apply training to your job. Also, new titles and an extended curriculum are now available across EMEA and there is a newly defined infrastructure to support your learning. Dubai moves In November, our team in Dubai moved into their spacious new offices in the Dubai International Financial Centre! This is a tremendous growth story for the business in the region, who launched in 2003 from an internet cafe in Dubai’s Media City. At that time we were a two-man Strategic Communications team advising on just one client - Dubai’s new Financial centre, the DIFC. From these humble beginnings, our offering has grown to a truly diverse hub. The SC team today numbers fifteen professionals, and they are joined by colleagues from Economic & Financial Consulting and Global Risk & Investigations. They all work alongside our established Construction Solutions practice also based in Dubai, and with colleagues throughout the Gulf. The new office facilitates the diverse range of services offered by FTI and reflects our commitment to growth, both in the Gulf region and across EMEA.
