(Homecoming-continued) HOMECOMiNG daNCE Saturday, October 6 7:00–11:00 P.M. in the WLHS Gymnasium The theme for this year’s Homecoming Dance is “There’s No Place Like Home-coming.” All students will need to have a means of transportation from school promptly at the end of the dance. Curfew is 11:00 P.M. in Milwaukee County, so it is important that our students not be allowed to walk home or take the bus after the dance. • dance cost: $9.00 per person includes refreshments. • attire: Semi-formal (NO JEANS!!) Young men wear ties or sweaters and young women wear dresses or dress pants. • Guests: Due to limited space, only seniors are allowed to invite guest dates from other schools. A senior girl may bring her boyfriend and a senior boy may bring his girlfriend. They may not bring in guest dates for others. WLHS seeks to conduct dances that will provide for the social development of its students in accordance with the Word of God. To help young Christians develop norms of behavior that are consistent with God’s ways, the following guidelines have been developed. • Dances must be chaperoned by faculty and administration with parental help. • Students are expected to conduct themselves and dress in such a way that they reflect the will and love of their Lord. • Only seniors may bring guests. All guests must be registered and must be limited to one guest per person. • WLHS seniors are responsible for the conduct of their guests. • Students will not be admitted to the dance any later than 8:30 P.M. • Once a student leaves the building, he or she may not re-enter. If students must go to their cars, a chaperone must accompany them. • No alcohol or any other illegal substance is allowed on the premises. School smoking rules apply. • I.D. cards and tickets must be presented to gain entrance to the dance. • Students must have a way home promptly at 11:00 P.M. Suggested Guidelines For Parents Of Teenagers attending a Party � Parents should know where their teenagers will be. Obtain the address and phone number of the party giver. � Contact the parents of the party-giver to: a) verify the occasion; b) offer assistance to help as a chaperone or as a chauffeur; c) make sure a parent will be present; d) be certain that alcohol and other drugs will not be permitted. � Discuss with your teen how to handle a situation where alcohol or other drugs are available at a party. Let your teen know what you expect. Help your teen develop a comfortable way to refuse alcohol or other drugs. � Know when your teen will get home from the party. � If your teen stays overnight with a friend after a party, check with the parents of the friend to verify that they will be home and that they want your teen to stay over. Spontaneous “sleepover” arrangements should always be confirmed with the host parents. Suggested Guidelines For Parents Hosting a Party � Set the ground rules with your teen before the party. Let your child know what you expect. It is important to stress shared responsibility for hosting the party. � A parent should be at home during the party and should bring in the snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Not only will your presence help keep the party running smoothly, but it will also give you an opportunity to meet your teen’s friends. � It is illegal to offer alcohol to guests under legal drinking age, even if your guests are staying overnight. � Limit party attendance and times. Small groups are easier to handle. Set time limits for the party that enable teens to be home at a reasonable time. � Guests should not be allowed to come and go. � Anticipate phone calls from parents and try to answer questions clearly and fully.
