Jay and Ellie By this point you are probably tired of hearing the words ‘Happy New Year’, but we can’t start off 2016 without saying ‘all the best’ can we, so…HAPPY NEW YEAR from both of us! And what a year it is looking like already in Liverpool. 2015 brought us three Queens sailing down the Mersey, 3 award winning music festivals and some of the biggest stars of music, theatre and comedy to our city. So what has 2016 got to offer, event wise in the best city in the world. First up, our very own Lifestyle Awards happening on Saturday 5th March at The Liner Hotel. Always one of the glitziest nights of the year and this year anything could happen as our bosses here at Lifestyle Monthy have decided to have us two hosting the ceremony. Nominations are open right now and we will be announcing winners of everything from Best Entertainer to best live act, best bar to best day out and many many more. And we get to sponsor the award for best new talent too, we can’t wait. Glad rags at the ready! So many festivals to tell you about and for starters Threshold Festival is just around the corner, the first real Liverpool music festival of the year takes over the Baltic Triangle for 4 days of grassroots music and a festival experience like no other. It is happening from the 1st April and already confirmed are The Destroyers, Natalie McCool & The Slytones. Tickets available now. Then in May the awesome Sound City returns to Bramley Moore Dock. We don’t really know how the team will top last yeas huge success but already they have local bands The Coral & Circa Waves. Plus Dandy Warhols & Young Fathers with 100’s more expected to be announced soon. This really was the festival of 2015 in our opinion so don’t miss 2016’s offering, Saturday 28th & Sunday 19th May. 16 Then in July the biggest free music festival in Europe returns to Sefton Park. The date has changed for LIMF this year to maximise its potential by moving it to a festival-free weekend and it will now take place from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 July. Last year everyone from Labrinth, Aleesha Dixon, Basement Jaxx, The Real Thing and Echo & the Bunneymen were on stage. All we know at this point is that the organisers plan to top 2015, so expect huge names and great music once again for LIMF 2016. So much more happening too, Touring musicals like Footloose, Annie, The Bodyguard and Last Night a DJ Saved my Life starring David Hasselhoff all coming to the Empire. The Royal Court will see the return of the Liverpool comedy classic Brick up the Mersey Tunnels and Les Dennis starring in Down the Dock Road. Whilst the Echo Arena sees Elton Jon, Ellie Goulding, The Corrs, Little Mix, Noel Gallagher, Peter Kaye & Bryan Adams all take to its big scouse stage. And of course it’s Liverpool Fashion Week 10-12 October.
