These investments help our most vulnerable residents as well as the health of our<br />

economy – and they are the right thing to do.<br />

We will build upon this work with the launch of this long-term strategy, with the goal of<br />

making measurable strides toward poverty reduction in <strong>Toronto</strong>.<br />

Together, we will address the neglect and isolation faced by residents in too many of our<br />

neighbourhoods. We will continue to tackle our unacceptable youth jobless rate. And we<br />

will build a strong, inclusive city of opportunity from Etobicoke to Scarborough and from<br />

North York to the waterfront.<br />

I am the Mayor of the whole city, and I intend to live up to that obligation. This plan is a<br />

step in the right direction.<br />
