Upon conviction, there were nineteen crimes which turned criminals
into colonists. British rogues guilty of those crimes were sentenced
to Australia rather than death. This punishment by “transportation”
began in 1788, and many of the lawless died at sea. The roughhewn
prisoners who reached Australia lived in servitude under the lash.
Pioneers in a frontier penal colony, they forged a new country, and
new lives, brick by brick. 19 Crimes celebrates the rules they broke
and the culture they built.
Beringer is the only winery to win Wine
Spectator’s “Wine of the Year” award for
both a red and a white wine (1986 Private
Private Reserve Chardonnay).
Beringer has had more placements on the
Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list than any
Winemaker Mark Beringer is only the 8th
head winemaker (in 139 years).
In 1876, brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer established Beringer
Vineyards in the Napa Valley, a previously undiscovered region. The
brothers quickly made Beringer famous for producing world-class wines,
and put Napa Valley on the map as one of the world’s premier growing
regions. Since then, Beringer has built a legacy crafting renowned wines
from a prized collection of Napa Valley and Knights Valley vineyards,
celebrating the uniqueness of each site and a remarkable winemaking
tradition. Beringer’s pioneering heritage, unwavering quality and
The term “Classico” refers to the original
geographic area of the Chianti region,
located just south of Florence. The clay and
limestone soils of Chianti Classico result
in grapes with great intensity, excellent
structure and bright acidity. The wines of
Gabbiano are expressive of this unique
terroir.
Castello di Gabbiano is the 2nd largest
vineyard owner in the Chianti Classico
region.
Located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, Castello di
Gabbiano has been protecting its estate-grown grapes since its
construction in the 12th century. The breathtaking 328-acre estate is
framed by hillside Sangiovese vineyards and olive groves and has long
been recognized for producing great wine in the rich Tuscan tradition.
Today, the wines of Gabbiano are crafted by Winemaker Federico
Cerelli, a native Tuscan with a passion for innovation. Castello di
Gabbiano continues to be a part of Tuscany’s historical fabric as one
of the leading wine estates in the region.
Matua founders Ross and Bill Spence, developed a vision for New
Stags’ Leap winery (established in 1893) continues a proud
The Little Penguin wine is named after the
little penguins of Australia. The smallest
of all species of penguins, these creatures
grow to about 12 inches tall and reside
A wine label that doesn’t take itself too seriously, The Little Penguin
takes the intimidation out of wine, replacing words like “swirling,”

light-hearted, witty Australian wine is a perfect match for today’s
casual wine consumer. The Little Penguin wines are made in a fresh
