Regeneration Project:
• Approximately £85,000 invested
through donations, materials and
volunteering time
• Strengthened relationships with
strong network of businesses and RB
partners
• Supported RB partners in achieving
their own RB agendas
• Developed relationships with and
between shop traders and community
groups in Penygraig
• Raised aspirations and confidence of
shop traders and community
• Improved appearance and
perceptions of town centre
• Changing attitudes towards local
shopping
• Volunteering opportunities for staff
• Increase in staff morale and improves
retention
• Sustaining deliverable changes for
the town centre – formulisation of
Penygraig Regeneration Group.
Key outcomes of Give and Gain Day 2014:
• 96% said Give & Gain Day was either
good, excellent or exceeded their
expectations
• 96% said they would be interested
in volunteering through their company
again
• 96% said they feel the time required
to participate as a volunteer was
rewarded by the benefits of the
experience
• 77% said they developed skills
through participating
• 98% said it was important to them
that their employer supported
volunteering
• 80% said their perception of the
company they work for had improved
as a result of employee volunteering
• 80% said they feel more committed to
their employer as a result of taking part
• 69% of employees said the project
improved the physical space
• 32% of employees said the project
will raise the aspirations of the
beneficiaries.

Penygraig. It has had a transformative effect on trading
environment in Penygraig. The local schools have been inspired
to get involved in the on-going regeneration of their own
environment and the wider community and Valleys Kids has seen
a significant upturn in community volunteering
in our facilities."
