Summer Studies | For Over 18s
Dates
| Saturday 3 Sept – Friday 9 Sept
Speakers | John Lewis, Seidel Abel Boanerges, & Rob Whittaker
Set aside a week this summer to be immersed in Bible teaching. You
have the opportunity to return to the classroom in Summer Studies, not
in preparation for an exam or to gain a qualification but we invite you to
spend time as we learn more about God, His character, His life on earth as
Jesus Christ and His call on our lives to tell others the Good News – God
saves through Christ – the heart of the Gospel!
Teaching Topic: “Just Jesus” (7 lectures) John Lewis
Through studies in Matthew’s Gospel, John will lead us in developing a
grasp of King Jesus and His kingdom and how it should shape our lives
today. For too long (as J.B. Phillips said) ‘our God has been too small’ but
equally our view of the Gospel has also been too small. So let us change
that - in Summer Studies 2016 the series at the heart of the week is ‘Just
Jesus’ giving us a fresh look at the King and His teaching on the Kingdom.
Teaching Topic: “Confident Christianity” (5 lectures) Seidel Abel Boanerges
Currently, we live in an ever changing, postmodern, post-Christian, post
everything culture! Christianity is under attack. From media to government,
from pop culture to high art, we see both intelligent objections and
superficial ridicule. At such a time as this, we need to be able to confidently
stand and defend our faith. These sessions on apologetics are a fantastic
opportunity for in-depth teaching and mutual encouragement in the task
of effective evangelism. The material will empower preaching, enrich
evangelism and inform all our ministries. This course will not only help you
to defend your faith, but also to present the gospel meaningfully to a nonbeliever.
Teaching Topic: “Theology 101…continued!” (5 lectures) Rob Whittaker
Rob continues his exploration of this vital subject taking us deeper into the
character and heart of God. He says, “I am increasingly convinced that as
we study theology, we are actually worshipping and loving our Lord. My
experience is that as I do that, I am transformed into the best version of
myself.”
