In front of by far the biggest crowd they’ve<br />

played in front of this season, <strong>Sittingbourne</strong><br />

had to accept a third successive league defeat,<br />

and they haven’t scored in any of those matches<br />

either.<br />

For all their skills and accurate passing<br />

Worthing didn’t create that much in the first<br />

half, <strong>Sittingbourne</strong> joining in by stroking the ball<br />

around on the accurate surface whenever they<br />

actually got hold of it.<br />

<strong>Sittingbourne</strong> chucked everything at Worthing<br />

in the second half, though in so doing it also<br />

cost them the game as they were twice cuaght<br />

on the break to score their second and third<br />

goals and give the final score a more flattering<br />

look.<br />

<strong>Sittingbourne</strong>: Molloy, Naessens, Lee<br />

(Brunt, 51 min), Steventon, Crimmen, Richardson,<br />

Wright (Ita, 57 min), Algar (Bankole, 57<br />

min), Irvine, Hughes, Akhazzan.<br />

And now they know – though to be honest, it<br />

didn’t feel that good as surely this was a game<br />

they should have won.<strong>Sittingbourne</strong> led twice<br />

but for the third time in a week conceded two<br />

secondhalf goals and this time they ended up<br />

with just a share of the points.<br />

They created more chances than probably in<br />

any game this season but their finishing wasn’t<br />

clinical enough, and when they were on target<br />

towards the end Walton’s keeper pulled off a<br />

couple of spectacular saves.<br />

Walton are just a place behind <strong>Sittingbourne</strong> in<br />

the league and after a poor run of results were<br />

clearly delighted to at least take a point home<br />

as they fight their own battle against being<br />

drawn into the relegation fight.<br />

What an important win for <strong>Sittingbourne</strong>, their<br />

first of this year and completing an excellent<br />

double over Whyteleafe this season. But this<br />

was <strong>Sittingbourne</strong> and they couldn’t resist doing<br />

it the hard way, going from cruising at 3-0<br />

to hanging on grimly at 3-2.<br />

Hang on they did, and in the end they got their<br />

reward for some decent attacking football and<br />

some nicely-taken goals when they were in the<br />

ascendancy.<br />

Congratulations to Hicham Akhazzan who<br />

made his 400th appearance for the Brickies<br />

and celebrated by scoring.<br />

A two goal victory for the Brickies with the two<br />

goals coming from the twin threat of Hicham<br />

Akhazzan and Steven Ita, Ita scoring the first<br />

from Akhazzan's cross and the second a reversal<br />

of this when Akhazzan struck the ball into<br />

the net from Ita's cross to make him the Brickies<br />

leading scorer so far this season.<br />

The game swung in <strong>Sittingbourne</strong>'s favour on<br />

38 minutes when Michael Salako raced away<br />

and fell over in the Brickies area, the shouts of<br />

penalty fell on deaf ears and no doubt still upset<br />

at the decision Salako pushed Wright over<br />

and the referee had no option but to show the<br />

red card.<br />

The swans battled well and Adam Molloy did<br />

brilliantly to tip a free kick on the post, but<br />

Akhazzan's goal on 78 minutes meant there<br />

was no way back for the home side.<br />
