MY BEST DEER TO DATE...
Written by Michelle Kelly
On the morning of November 15th I got in to my stand a few minutes before legal light.
Once I was set up and ready to watch things were dead quiet. What happened next was
exciting as heck!! I caught a glimpse of movement in the willows coming off the creek.
I thought it was a wolf. I got my gun
up and tried to find the critter in my
scope, but what I thought was a wolf
was a good big buck! He came out
of the trees on a hard trot. I got on
him and let out two bleats to stop him.
He slowed and gave me a look noticing
then he had good mass I couldn’t wait
any longer and fired. It was a good
solid hit. I gave the deer 20 minutes
and called my boyfriend to come help
in getting my good deer. Once Lee
showed up he asked me what I got.
I really couldn’t even tell him exactly
what the deer was, how many points it
had. My reply was, “He’s heavy and tall
and mature, 4x4 for sure”. When we
tracked in and saw my deer I was super
excited. That sucker grew even more
as we walked up a 5x7. My best deer to
date. I’m super lucky to have harvested
such a nice bush buck considering the
tuff winter last year!
