STUDENT KICK-OFF 2011<br />

MORE IMPRESSIVE! MORE GHENT! MORE FESTIVE!<br />

The new academic year 2011-2012 will start with a Big Bang<br />

worthy of the largest student city in Flanders: Student Kick-Off<br />

2011, 28 September 2011, on St Pietersplein.<br />

This welcome party for students by students is already in its fifth<br />

year and has become the biggest student event in Flanders.<br />

Student Kick-Off is the result of intense cooperation between the<br />

students of <strong>Ghent</strong> (and their unions), the City of <strong>Ghent</strong> and all the<br />

higher education institutions in <strong>Ghent</strong>.<br />

Its ingredients are: top music, kicks and infotainment..<br />

Every year numerous activities are organised on the square.<br />

Students can also visit a huge info village with interactive stands<br />

from the <strong>Ghent</strong> Student Unions, the higher education institutions,<br />

the City of <strong>Ghent</strong> and associations of <strong>Ghent</strong>.<br />

other persons or damaging other people’s property.<br />

4. Don’t forget to bring<br />

- A valid national identity card or passport.<br />

- A visa (only requested for some students – see page 27 of this brochure).<br />

- Your driving licence.<br />

- Confirmation of accommodation in <strong>Ghent</strong> (if you have already<br />

booked a room).<br />

- Letter of Invitation /Admission from the host institution in <strong>Ghent</strong>.<br />

- Health insurance (blue European Health Insurance Card or other health<br />

insurance valid in Belgium).<br />

- Student card from your home university (or other proof of registration).<br />

- A certificate containing all data concerning your grant.<br />

- Passport photographs (minimum 6).<br />

- Other insurance that may be applicable<br />

(e.g. private, home university, etc.).<br />

- Contact data of person(s) to be contacted in case of emergency.<br />

- Contact data of contact persons in your university.<br />

- Contact details of your Embassy in Belgium (www.diplomatie.be).<br />

It’s a good idea to take some photocopies of the documents listed above.
