3. Beva 371 Dry Resin Mix
BEVA 371 Dry Resin Mix is the same product as BEVA 371 Solution but without the flammable solvents. The dry mix
comes in two containers, Part A and Part B. The two are prepared separately in a double boiler with toluene and benzine,
and then combined into one solution. This is a great product for traveling when solvent solutions are not permitted. You will
need to purchase the needed solvents when you reach your destination. To make one gallon of solution you will need 1000g
of Toluene and 800g of Benzine (naphtha). The dry resin mix comes with complete instruction.
4. Beva Gel
BEVA GEL is an aqueous dispersion of ethylene vinyl acetate and acrylic resins in a solution of water-soluble cellulose
materials. In its pure form, or diluted with water, BEVA GEL is an excellent water-based adhesive dispersion, easy to apply
by brush, roller or spray, with good slip and adhesion to a very wide range of surfaces. It is especially useful for cold lining of
paintings and remounting of murals to a wide variety of lining materials and substrates.
5. Beva D-8
BEVA D-8 is an aqueous, non-ionic dispersion which consists mainly of an ethylene vinyl acetate emulsified by a volatile
material which evaporates during drying, without leaving a residue. Application in dispersion permits the use of resins of still
higher viscosity and greater flexibility than BEVA 371. However, BEVA D-8 requires more aromatic mixtures for removal
than BEVA 371. Since it is an emulsion, it is sensitive to freezing, and should be stored with this in mind.
CELLULOSE ADHESIVES
1. Methocel A4CP
Methocel A4CP is not just any cellulose, it’s an extremely pure cellulose ether powder. This material is easily dissolved in
water to produce a neutral pH, water-soluble, adhesive paste with viscosity of 400 cps at 2%. It can also be used as an
effective thickener for many water-based solutions.
LASCAUX RESTAURO ADHESIVES
1. Lascaux Acrylic Adhesive 360 & 498
Lascaux Acrylic Adhesives 360 HV and 498 HV are thermoplastic copolymer butyl-methacrylate dispersions thickened with
acrylic butyl-ester. Lascaux Acrylic Adhesive 498-20X is the same thermoplastic copolymer butyl-methacrylate dispersion,
however it is thickened with 20% xylene. They are all water-thinnable, but insoluble in water after drying. Once dry they are
permanently soluble in acetone, toluene and xylene, but insoluble in White Spirit, VM & P Naphtha.
Lascaux Acrylic adhesive 360 hv is extremely elastic. The dry film remains permanently tacky, and can be used as a
contact adhesive when doing hot-sealing linings.
Lascaux Acrylic adhesive 498 hv has a strong elongation at break. It is a somewhat harder and not as tacky as
Lascaux 360 HV. It is suitable for wet and dry applications (reactivation with solvents). This is the standard type for linings.
Lascaux Acrylic adhesive 498-20X is especially suited for strip-lining.
Additional application information is available upon request.
