DCE-DTU Alumni Association
in partnership
with E-Cell organised a
competition-cum-event
to facilitate enterprising
start-ups through pitching
competitions. Eminent
panellists gave invaluable
insights on their
journey from DTU to
where they stand today.
This jury consisted of
stalwarts of the industry-
Pravin Sinha of Jabong,
Rohit Chaddha of Foodpanda, Alok Goel of SAIF
partners and Sanjay Modi of Monster India. Vice
Chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh through his brilliant
poetry motivated the students to strive for excellence
and promised to setup Dqbator, a business incubation
centre to create the next generation of Unicorn Startups
from our college. The teams were broadly divided
into student teams and team alumni. Innovative
ideas such as on-demand laundry, autonomous cars,
advisor circuits among others, were put forth. A total
of 8 alumni teams and 4 students team pitched their
ideas and were judged on parameters ranging from
innovation, revenue model, finance, marketing and
risk evaluation. At the end of the event Team Mark
n Move were adjudged the winner of alumni round
and EazyPG the winner of student round. They won
a cash prize of ₹60,000/- and ₹30,000/- respectively.

The chief guest of the event was Mr Manish Sisodia,
Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. The event started
with a musical program by Suresh Raheja. Distinguished
alumni, students and teachers were awarded,
followed by a speech by the President of the association.
It was a huge gathering of more than a thousand
people which included the silver and golden jubilee
members of DCE. The event was funded by two people
from the golden jubilee and by over a hundred
people from silver jubilee.
EE Department organizes
National Workshop on
Power Electronics
The Department of Electrical Engineering organised
a National Workshop on Power Electronics (NWPE-
2015) from 6-7 November, 2015. NWPE-2015 offered
a unique opportunity to the experts from major industries,
premier academic institutions and distinguished
practitioners in
power electronics technology
deployment to
share their experience,
new ideas and practical
challenges encountered
and the possible solutions
towards the theme
of the workshop “Power
Electronics for Sustainable
Energy”. Some of
the topics covered under
the workshop included
efficient appliances and
power quality, energy
storage systems and pico-grids as well as electric vehicles
and smart urban transportation.
Ranbhoomi ’16
DTU Hostel association with the help of student
councils of all the hostels of DTU, collectively organized
an Inter Hostel Sports Meet “Ranbhoomi
2016”, exclusively for hostellers between 1 st to 8 th of
February, 2016 at Sports Complex. This event was
highly instrumental in promoting a feeling of solidarity
amongst the students and promoted physical
fitness, competitive spirit and health awareness
amongst them along with helping in honing their
skills of organization and administration. This event
was organized under the guidance of Associate Professor
Rajesh Rohilla, Hostel Office in-charge and
Prof. Narendra Kumar Hostel Chief Warden. There
were four major sports Cricket, Football, Badminton
and Volleyball.

ECE Department organizes
Lectures
ECE department organised TEQIP-II sponsored expert
lecture series on VLSI Design from 18 th to 29 th
January, 2016. Key speakers of the program were Prof.
G. Visweswaran (IIIT Delhi), Dr Mukul Sarkar
(IIT Delhi), Dr Shouribrata Chatterjee (IIT Delhi),
Mr B. Sriram (Freescale Semiconductors), Mr Babul
Anunay (Freescale Semiconductors) and Mr Manoj
Kumar Tiwari (ST Microelectronics). The program
covered a spectrum of topics including differential
amplifier, oscillators, integrated chip design in analogue
domain; and logical effort, timing system on
chip and reliability issues and design constraints in
deep sub-micron technology in digital domain.
DCE-DTU Alumni Meet
DCE-DTU alumni meet was conducted on 30 th Jan-
Industrial Visit to Dadri
The Electrical Engineering department arranged
an Industrial Visit for B. Tech. EE/EEE students
to NTPC, Dadri on 29 th December 2015. The students
of 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th years also visited the 400 kV
HVDC/HVAC PGCIL Plant at Dadri.
Staff Development
Program in Mechanical
Engineering
Staff Development Program (SDP) was organised
under the chairmanship of Prof. R.S. Mishra on 7 th
December 2015 and more than Ninety candidates
participated. The SDP program was inaugurated by
Hon’ble Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor of
DTU while Dr M.S. Rangnath served as Course
Coordinator and Dr M.S. Niranjan and Dr Girish
Kumar as Co-Course Coordinators.
Notable Developments at
the Library
Library celebrated the Vigilance Awareness Week
from 26 th to 31 st October 2015. The theme of observing
the awareness Week was ‘Preventive Vigilance as
DTU celebrates Republic
Day
To celebrate the spirit of patriotism, Republic Day
was celebrated in the DTU campus. The ceremony
was attended by the faculty members as well as the
students. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. S.K. Garg hoisted
the flag following which the National Anthem impregnated
the atmosphere with patriotism.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering
organised TEQIP-II sponsored Faculty Development
Programme on “Advances in Information Security”
in January, 2016. Prof. O.P. Verma, Dr S. Indu
and Shri Manoj Kumar were the coordinators of the
event that was attended by faculty members from all
the colleges in the Delhi NCR.

Kumar, Kritant Mishra (2 nd yr.) was selected for the Spark Fund, through I-Create initiative,
a nationwide start-up funding event backed by PMO.

• Won the DTU round of ‘TechQ’, a campus competition organized by Airtel for
engineering colleges. Would now represent DTU at the National Finals.

• Lead android developer of ‘Team Sanskrit’–team that was adjudged winner of
PMO app development contest by a panel consisting of Rajan Anandan, Vijay Shekhar
Sharma and senior PMO officials. Built a multi utility app for submitting reviews on PM’s
Mann Ki Baat programmes, getting a peak into PM’s calendar and sharing PMO posts.

Enactus DTU stands up
for Social Cause
Enactus DTU carried out several projects for
greater social cause. Project Unmoolan for free
health camps and setting up a sustainable clean
water supply system to 140 families in the slum
at nominal charges was conducted. It significantly
lowered incidence of water-borne diseases,
created awareness about household hygiene. Under
Project Prakriti, awareness campaigns and
waste paper collection drives in Paschim Vihar,
Sarita Vihar and Dwarka were conducted. Approximately
400 kg waste paper has been collected
which will be recycled and converted into
spiral notebooks. The team also won Walmart
Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Partnership
Grant 2015-16 worth ₹20,000.
Madhurima wins
laurels
Madhurima, the music society of DTU won 3 rd
position in Conchord, the acapella competition
at Mood Indigo, IITB. They also won 2 nd position
in the Acapella Competition in Antaraagni,
IIT Kanpur. Saayon and Siddharth from the
team bagged the 3 rd place in the duo comp at
Antaraagni, and Mayank bagged 2 nd position in
western solo singing at Mood Indigo.
DelTech BAJA succeeds
at Baja Student India
The DelTech BAJA team participated in Baja
Student India 2016 at Buddh International
Circuit, Greater Noida. The team grabbed 4 th
position in Design event and 8 th position in the
Endurance race showcasing the brilliant technical
skills and amazing teamwork.
Team Defianz blazes at
Formula Student India
Team Defianz took part in the Formula Student
India’16 held at Buddh International Circuit.
They secured the 5 th position in the Design
OurTeam
Event and ended up as the 1 st runner up in the
Business Plan Presentation. The F1 car was also
on display for four days at the Indian Auto Expo
2016.
Pratibimb achieves
podium finish
Pratibimb-The Dramatics Society, DTU secured
3 rd position in Rangsheesh Jaidev Theatre
festival at ARSD, and 3 rd place at Ughosh Theatre
Event, Shivaji College. They again proved
their mettle in street play competition at Dyal
Singh College and finished 2 nd runner up.
Team also won award for Best Music at PGDAV
College and award for Best Production at Sahitya
Kala Mahaparishad.
SR-DTU organises Events
Society of Robotics, DTU organised the Broadcom-DTU
Hackathon in 2015. The CEO of
Electronics giant Broadcom, Mr Rajiv Kapur
himself visited the college for the prize distribution
ceremony. The society also organised workshops
on VLSI and Embedded Systems in association
in 3ST Technologies that was attended
by more than 70 students.
DTU SportsMania
organises Footsoul
DTU SportsMania, in association with Hero,
organised Footsoul, the 5-day football fest of
DTU. The event consisted of freestyle as well
as field events in both boys’ and girls’ categories
with more than 80 teams participating. Two time
world record holder and India’s best free-stylist,
Archis Patel, HOD Physical Education Prof.
A.K. Srivastava and Sports Council Chairman
Dr A.S. Rao graced the occasion that turned out
to be huge success.
