<strong>Intec</strong> was established in 1982. Since that time the company has developed and expanded within the vocational market and is one of the UK’s<br />

leading independent vocational work based training organisations. <strong>Intec</strong> works closely, in partnership, with companies to develop training and<br />

development programmes which are flexible and accommodate the needs of the company and the employee.<br />

<strong>Intec</strong> delivers a range of courses and programmes leading to the achievement of nationally recognised qualifications. These qualifications include<br />

Apprenticeship Qualifications, vocational certificates and Diplomas and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ).<br />

<strong>Intec</strong> has operational teams across all UK regions, with computer training facilities in Milton Keynes, Rugby, Nottingham, Reading and Tamworth.

Apprenticeships in the workplace<br />

Apprenticeships are the UK’s flagship work<br />

based vocational training programmes for<br />

people aged 16 years old and above.<br />

Apprenticeship programmes are specifically<br />

designed for particular occupational areas<br />

and meet nationally approved standards.<br />

They are designed by relevant industry skills<br />

sectors for people wishing to follow a career<br />

in that industry.<br />

<strong>Intec</strong> will organise and deliver the qualification<br />

ensuring that it conforms to all industry and<br />

award body standards. <strong>Intec</strong> undertake the<br />

initial assessment and induction of employees<br />

onto an Apprenticeship programme and will<br />

organise; award body registration, programme<br />

delivery, course assessment, verification and<br />

certification of the qualification. <strong>Intec</strong> directly<br />

employs Assessors and Verifiers to support the<br />

whole process.<br />

Apprenticeships are available at<br />

three levels in England<br />

Intermediate Apprenticeship – suitable for<br />

front line operational roles or for <strong>new</strong> entrants<br />

to a job role. Typically this will take 12-15<br />

months to complete.<br />

Advanced Apprenticeship – suitable for<br />

those who are undertaking a wider range of<br />

work activities within their job role. Typically<br />

this will take 12-18 months to complete.<br />

Higher Apprenticeships – suitable for those<br />

working in a more senior role and make<br />

operational decisions or changes. Typically this<br />

will take 15-20 months to complete.<br />

Scottish Modern Apprenticeships – are<br />

available at Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5. The level is<br />

dependent on the candidates work role<br />

within the company. Each level of<br />

apprenticeship is designed in line with<br />

Sector Skills Councils framework.<br />

Traineeships<br />

Traineeships are a great way to build a recruitment pipeline of young individuals<br />

aged 16 to 24. It is an education and training programme where you provide work<br />

experience that is focused on giving young people the skills needed to succeed<br />

in your sector. From this pool of young talent you can then recruit those who will<br />

compliment your business and help you build a strong business for the future.<br />

A Traineeship programme lasts a minimum of 6 weeks and consists of work<br />

experience provided by you, the employer and sector specific training provided by<br />

<strong>Intec</strong>.<br />

Benefits of developing a Traineeship programme:<br />

• Develops skills relevant to your sector prior to employment.<br />

• All training costs are met through government funding accessed and<br />

administered by <strong>Intec</strong>.<br />

• Allows for an extended interview period to give you time to assess applicants<br />

and see how they perform in the work environment before agreeing a<br />

contract of employment.<br />

Once you have decided that a Traineeship programme is good for business,<br />

<strong>Intec</strong> will do the rest.<br />

• Take full details of the Traineeship specification and job description<br />

• Search and screen candidates to match the programme<br />

• Agree dates, times and locations for interviews<br />

Staff Development<br />

<strong>Intec</strong> Business Colleges specialise in the<br />

design and implementation of ‘in company’<br />

development and assessment programmes<br />

using Vocational Awards, Certificates and<br />

Diplomas and Scottish Vocational<br />

Qualification (SVQ) frameworks.<br />

delivered on-site to minimise inconvenience<br />

whilst maximising benefit.<br />

Funding<br />

<strong>Intec</strong> can support qualifications at all<br />

levels and across all age groups through<br />

a variety of funding options.<br />

A vocational Qualification is a work based<br />

practical qualification, which develops <strong>new</strong><br />

skills and measures the competence of<br />

your employees against nationally defined<br />

standards. Depending on the qualification<br />

and occupational area chosen, to achieve a<br />

qualification will typically take between<br />

9-15 months to complete.<br />

<strong>Intec</strong> Business Colleges Advanced Courses are based upon Vocational Qualifications at levels 3,<br />

4, 5 and 7.<br />
