Intec was established in 1982. Since that time the company has developed and expanded within the vocational market and is one of the UK’s
leading independent vocational work based training organisations. Intec works closely, in partnership, with companies to develop training and
development programmes which are flexible and accommodate the needs of the company and the employee.
Intec delivers a range of courses and programmes leading to the achievement of nationally recognised qualifications. These qualifications include
Apprenticeship Qualifications, vocational certificates and Diplomas and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ).
Intec has operational teams across all UK regions, with computer training facilities in Milton Keynes, Rugby, Nottingham, Reading and Tamworth.

Apprenticeships in the workplace
Apprenticeships are the UK’s flagship work
based vocational training programmes for
people aged 16 years old and above.
Apprenticeship programmes are specifically
designed for particular occupational areas
and meet nationally approved standards.
They are designed by relevant industry skills
sectors for people wishing to follow a career
in that industry.
Intec will organise and deliver the qualification
ensuring that it conforms to all industry and
award body standards. Intec undertake the
initial assessment and induction of employees
onto an Apprenticeship programme and will
organise; award body registration, programme
delivery, course assessment, verification and
certification of the qualification. Intec directly
employs Assessors and Verifiers to support the
whole process.
Apprenticeships are available at
three levels in England
Intermediate Apprenticeship – suitable for
front line operational roles or for new entrants
to a job role. Typically this will take 12-15
months to complete.
Advanced Apprenticeship – suitable for
those who are undertaking a wider range of
work activities within their job role. Typically
this will take 12-18 months to complete.
Higher Apprenticeships – suitable for those
working in a more senior role and make
operational decisions or changes. Typically this
will take 15-20 months to complete.
Scottish Modern Apprenticeships – are
available at Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5. The level is
dependent on the candidates work role
within the company. Each level of
apprenticeship is designed in line with
Sector Skills Councils framework.

Traineeships
Traineeships are a great way to build a recruitment pipeline of young individuals
aged 16 to 24. It is an education and training programme where you provide work
experience that is focused on giving young people the skills needed to succeed
in your sector. From this pool of young talent you can then recruit those who will
compliment your business and help you build a strong business for the future.
A Traineeship programme lasts a minimum of 6 weeks and consists of work
experience provided by you, the employer and sector specific training provided by
Intec.
Benefits of developing a Traineeship programme:
• Develops skills relevant to your sector prior to employment.
• All training costs are met through government funding accessed and
administered by Intec.
• Allows for an extended interview period to give you time to assess applicants
and see how they perform in the work environment before agreeing a
contract of employment.
Once you have decided that a Traineeship programme is good for business,
Intec will do the rest.
• Take full details of the Traineeship specification and job description
• Search and screen candidates to match the programme
• Agree dates, times and locations for interviews
• Select suitable candidates
• Make all the arrangements with candidates by telephone, email and letter
• Deliver the training
• Should your trainees progress to an Apprenticeship then you may be eligible

Staff Development
Intec Business Colleges specialise in the

SVQ programmes are integrated into the
individual’s normal work activities and are
delivered on-site to minimise inconvenience
whilst maximising benefit.
Funding
Intec can support qualifications at all
levels and across all age groups through
a variety of funding options.
A vocational Qualification is a work based
practical qualification, which develops new
skills and measures the competence of
your employees against nationally defined
standards. Depending on the qualification
and occupational area chosen, to achieve a
qualification will typically take between
9-15 months to complete.
