The following six verses are not found in all Vedas and is usually counted as a second portion added<br />
much later in the historical development. Many omit them while reciting. I add them here for the sake<br />
of completeness.<br />
<strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Purusha</strong> <strong>Suktam</strong><br />
dvitIya anuvAkam<br />
Verse 1<br />
adbhyassambhoota: prthivyai rasAcca | vishvakarmaNassamavartatAdhi |<br />
tasya tvaSHTA vidadhadroopameti | tatpuruSHasya vishvamAjAnamagre || 1 ||<br />
adbhya: = From the waters and from the<br />
sambhoota: = was the Universe, born.<br />
prthivyai = earth<br />
rasAt = elemental essence<br />
vishvakarmaNa: = through the work of the divine architect of the universe,<br />
samavartata.= Universe and all<br />
adhi = in the beginning more than that<br />
tvashTA =the divine carpenter<br />
vidadhat = establishes<br />
tasya roopam = its form<br />
eti = thus .<br />
agre = In the beginning was<br />
tat puruSHasya = that puruSHa's<br />
vishvam = universe<br />
Ajanam = formed.<br />
From water and essence of earth was born,<br />
The all pervading universe.<br />
From the great God who is the creator,<br />
