Mat 1:1 The book <strong>of</strong> the generation <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Jesus</strong> Christ, the son <strong>of</strong> David, the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Abraham.<br />
Mat 1:2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac<br />
begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judah and<br />
his brethren;<br />
Mat 1:3 and Judah begat Perez and Zerah<br />
<strong>of</strong> Tamar; and Perez begat Hezron; and<br />
Hezron begat Ram;<br />

1Ch 2:1 These are the sons <strong>of</strong> Israel:<br />
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,<br />
Issachar, and Zebulun,<br />
1Ch 2:3 The sons <strong>of</strong> Judah:<br />
1Ch 2:4 And Tamar his daughter-in-law<br />
bare him Perez and Zerah. All the sons <strong>of</strong><br />
Judah were five.<br />
1Ch 2:5 The sons <strong>of</strong> Perez: Hezron, and<br />
Hamul.<br />
1Ch 2:9 The sons also <strong>of</strong> Hezron, that<br />
were born unto him: Jerahmeel, and Ram,<br />
and Chelubai.<br />
Mat 1:4 and Ram begat Amminadab; and<br />
Amminadab begat Nahshon; and Nahshon<br />
begat Salmon;<br />
Mat 1:5 and Salmon begat Boaz <strong>of</strong> Rahab;<br />
and Boaz begat Obed <strong>of</strong> Ruth; and Obed<br />

And David begat fourteen generations; and<br />
from David unto the carrying away to<br />
Babylon fourteen generations; and from the<br />
carrying away to Babylon unto the Christ<br />

and Amminadab begat Nahshon, prince <strong>of</strong><br />
the children <strong>of</strong> Judah;<br />

Now Matthew gives a block <strong>of</strong> 14 generations from David to Captivity. We have these generations enumerated<br />
to us in 1 Chronicles 3:4-5 and 10-18<br />
Mat 1:6 and Jesse the<br />

David was the father <strong>of</strong><br />
Solomon, whose mother<br />
had been Uriah's wife,<br />
1 Chr 3:4 . David reigned in<br />
Jerusalem thirty-three years,<br />
1 Chr 3:5 and these were the<br />
children born to him there:<br />
Shammua, Shobab, Nathan<br />
and Solomon. These four<br />
were by Bathsheba daughter<br />
<strong>of</strong> Ammiel.1<br />
