The Religious & Sacred Kumbh Mela 2016 In Ujjain
It is really hard to hear that someone never heard about the Kumbh Mela, it is the most
peaceful gathering place in the world. It is a mass Hindu pilgrimage faith in which Hindu
gathers to bathe in the sacred river, it is a festival where people gather from round the
globe, that why it is the only festival where more than 120 million people gathers.
Traditionally, there are four fairs are extensively recognized as Kumbh Melas (Mela means
fair): the Haridwar Kumbh Mela, the Allahabad Kumbh Mela, the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar
Simhastha and the Ujjain Simhastha. These four fairs are held periodically at one of the four
places by rotation: Haridwar, Allahabad (Prayaga), Nashik district (Nashik and Trimbak) and
Ujjain. The main festival site is located at the banks of these rivers – the Ganga at Haridwar,
the Sangam (confluence) of the Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Sarasvati at Allahabad; the
Godavari at Nashik, the Shipra in Ujjain. According to Hindu mythology bathing in these
rivers is a thought to rinse all your sins.
The Kumbh Mela is held in every 12 years at the given place, there is a difference of around
three years in Haridwar and Nashik, and the fairs at Nashik and Ujjain are celebrated in the
same year or one year apart.
Exact time of the fair is determined by the Indian astrology, according to a combination
zodiac position of the Jupiter, the Sun, and the Moon.
