welcome to the Ilinden Sports Centre
for this round 8 clash against competition
heavyweights, Blacktown City.
We hope you all enjoy the game and fingers
crossed for a win which would close the
gap to our visitors on the competition
ladder.
It is a special weekend with many of our
supporters celebrating Orthodox Easter,
Happy Easter to all of those fans.
Away from the field, our new digital
scoreboard has arrived and all going well
will shortly be installed.
This is our first night fixture for the season
and it won’t be an easy task against
Blacktown City FC.
Our boys come into the game with renewed
confidence following an up and down past
week. We were bitterly disappointed to be
knocked out of the Westfield FFA Cup last
Wednesday night. On Sunday we travelled
to Cromer Park to take on a red hot Manly
side. Despite playing most of the second
half with 10 men, our boys came away
with a gutsy 1-1 draw. It was a determined
effort from our team who look forward to
playing at home before our loyal fans.

Makrillos have all been key contributors for the
Suns so far this season and they will need to be
at their best if Rockdale are going to take three
points away from this clash.
Blacktown returned to winning ways last week
with a 3-0 win against Wollongong after losing
the previous round to Hakoah.
Mark Crittenden’s side has played well but has
yet to hit its peak.
It could be a tough test for both teams with fans
sure to be gifted an entertaining clash.

ockdale City Suns will be looking to snap a
Rstreak of three consecutive losses when they
host second-placed Blacktown City at Ilinden
Sports Centre.
The tenth-placed side made a positive start to
the season with two wins from the opening
month but have been on a downward spiral ever
since, conceding a league high 18 goals in total.
And coming up against a Blacktown City side
who appear back to their formidable best, the
Rockdale defence will have to step up against
a strike force boasting the likes of Jonathan
Grozdanovski who has collected four goals to his
name in the past fortnight.

GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL FRIDAY
SUBHEAD
The initiative will give grassroots teams from all
over New South Wales the chance to play their
games at the Home of Football under lights and on
a state-of the-art synthetic pitch.
And it’s all free of charge.
Football NSW Head of Communications, Facilities
and Government Relations Ricardo Piccioni said the
initiative was about providing the community with
access to world class facilities.
“Grassroots Football Friday is a new initiative from
Football NSW to give community players from
across the state the chance to play under lights at
the Home of Football,” he said
“We’re offering our state-of-the-art synthetic fields
free of charge to all of our Associations on a Friday
night, and encouraging them to schedule any of
their grassroots matches at Valentine Sports Park.
“We want as many people as possible to experience
playing at our fantastic facility, and hope to have
men and women of all ages and abilities gracing
our fields during 2016.”
Grassroots Football Friday kicked off last week
with Putney Rangers anad Gladesville Ravens
representing the Gladesville Hornsby Football
Association All Age 8 competition.
Speaking before the match Putney Rangers club
president Lina Candy said it was a massive coup for
the club and for all grassroots football to have the
opportunity to play at Valentine Sports Park.
“For many of the players it will be the first time they
have played on a world class synthetic pitch as well
as at a major venue like Valentine sports Park,” she
said.
“We jumped at the opportunity when we were
approached by Gladesville Hornsby Football
Association to reschedule this match to VSP. All the
players are buzzing and can’t wait to play on Friday.
“This is a great idea from Football NSW and I know
there is plenty of support around the clubs for this
initiative.”

Page praised Football NSW for giving back to the
associations which helped fund the development
of Valentine Sports Park.
“The change rooms and the facilities at VSP
will make the boys feel like they are a Hyundai
A-League player for a night,” he said.
“The boys don’t often get to play under lights at All
Age 8’s level so that too will be a great experience.
“Hopefully throughout the year more and more
teams from the Gladesville Hornsby Football
Association and other associations will get the
chance to play at VSP too.”

Manly United FC 1 - Rockdale City Suns 1 at
Cromer Park
A wasteful Manly United were left pondering
what may have been after Rockdale held on for
a 1-1 draw at Cromer Park in its PlayStation®4
National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s clash on
Sunday afternoon.
Alec Urosevski gave Rockdale the lead after
only five minutes but Jamie Lobb’s 45th minute
goal was enough to rescue a point for Paul
Dee’s Manly side.
Manly will be disappointed not to take more
away from the match after having the better of
the attacking chances throughout the match.
The result ensures Rockdale and Manly remain
at third and fourth on the competition ladder
ahead of Round 8.
Blacktown City FC 3 - Wollongong Wolves 1 at
Lily’s Football Centre
Blacktown City FC has secured a convincing
3-0 win against Wollongong Wolves in its
PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW
Men’s clash at Lilys Football Centre, Seven Hills
on Sunday afternoon.
A first half goal from Mitchell Mallia followed
by two second-half goals from substitute
Danny Choi was enough for the home team to
walk away with all three points.
It was a tough day at the office for Wollongong
who were up against a Blacktown side
desperate to put its Round 6 shock loss to
Hakoah in the past.
Wollongong were tough competition but
never truly threatened Blacktown as Mark
Crittenden’s men kept the pressure on Sydney
United 58 FC at the peak of the competition
ladder with another three point haul.
