THE MCLAREN 675LT
Experience the raw adrenaline of the
McLaren 675LT, the lightest, most driverfocused,
most exclusive series-production
McLaren supercar ever built.
The 1997 McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ was the
ultimate evolution of the Le Mans-winning
F1 GTR. Almost two decades on, the
limited-edition 675LT follows its
uncompromising ethos to create a visceral
driving experience of unique intensity.
More power, less weight, more precision
– nothing has escaped our attention in
the quest for perfection on both road
and track. The McLaren 675LT will only be
available as a coupé, reflecting its focused
nature, and just 500 will be produced.
Performance is similarly striking. The reengineered
M838TL V8 twin-turbocharged
engine produces 675PS (666bhp) and
700Nm (516lb ft) – increases of 25PS (25bhp)
and 22Nm (16lb ft) – and the seven-speed
dual-clutch gearbox is now twice as fast.
The carbon fiber MonoCell provides the
675LT with an unrivaled combination of
lightness, safety and stiffness, in common
with all models in the McLaren Super Series.
But an obsessive weight-saving strategy
unlocks a further 100kg reduction
compared with the 650S. From lightweight
carbon fiber racing seats to a 1mm thinner
windscreen, no opportunity to save weight
has been overlooked.
Ultra lightweight forged alloy wheels
and Pirelli P-ZERO Trofeo R tires, carbon
ceramic brakes and an uprated suspension
system that embraces technology from the
McLaren P1 also contribute to the
radical specification.
DESIGN

DESIGNED TO THRILL
Dramatic new exterior and interior
design hint at the astonishing
performance of the McLaren 675LT.
Informed by motorsport success and
designed to set your pulse racing,
the 675LT is the most striking of all
McLaren Super Series models.
Not only does the exterior design
of the 675LT create maximum visual
impact, but it also helps unleash
its staggering performance. The
race-inspired front splitter is now 80
percent larger and the distinctive
rear ‘Longtail’ Airbrake’s aspect
ratio increased by some 50 percent;
both additions help increase
downforce by an incredible 40
percent compared with the already
efficient 650S. The unprecedented
use of carbon fiber for a car in this
class – including both new bumpers,
and the entirely redesigned rear
fenders and rear deck – also
contributes to a substantial 100kg
overall weight saving; a 1230kg dry
weight makes the 675LT lighter than
all class competitors, and gives an
astonishing power-to-weight ratio of
549PS per tonne.
Inside, the performance-focused,
weight-optimized design continues.
Carpet has been removed revealing
the carbon fiber MonoCell at the
heart of the 675LT. Comfortable
yet purposeful racing seats save
15kg, while larger rocker shift gear
controls inspired by the McLaren
P1 underline the performance
credentials of the 675LT.
MOTORSPORT TECHNOLOGY FOR THE
Race-bred innovation delivers a sensational drive on track and road.
Carbon Fiber Bumper and Splitter
An all-new, lightweight carbon fiber bumper incorporates a
pronounced carbon fiber splitter with an 80 percent larger
surface area than the 650S. This creates an area of high
pressure above the splitter, which Formula 1-inspired endplates
help to maintain. Combined with a lowered front ride
height, low pressure also develops below the splitter. This helps
increase downforce by 40 percent and sucks the 675LT to the
ground, allowing for even higher cornering speeds.
Carbon Fiber Rear Deck, Titanium Exhaust
The aggressive new carbon fiber rear deck features two
enlarged air outlets, ensuring the additional cool air required by
the more powerful M838TL engine can escape once hot. It also
complements a new design of titanium exhaust, with distinctive
twin circular outlets that create a unique visual signature. The
exhaust offers over 1kg of weight savings, and features a unique
crossover muffler to maximize performance and contribute to
the raw and intoxicating soundtrack of the 675LT.
ROAD
Optimized Airbrake and Diffuser
The active ‘Longtail’ Airbrake is now 50 percent larger to
optimize downforce, but also lighter due to carbon fiber
construction. It is subtly integrated with the all-new carbon
fiber rear deck when not deployed, automatically increases
aerodynamic stability at speed, and deploys more aggressively
under hard braking to support the carbon ceramic brake discs
and reduce forward pitch. A more aggressive carbon fiber rear
diffuser further contributes to the incredible levels of downforce.
Enhanced Downforce, Extra Cooling
Re-engineering the in-house-developed M838TL engine to
produce 675PS (666bhp) and 700Nm (516lb ft) necessarily
demands an increased flow of cool air. As a result, the carbon
fiber side intakes are significantly enlarged compared with
650S models, while all-new carbon fiber side skirts include an
additional air intake to increase flow and contribute to the
increased downforce generated by the all-new front splitter,
rear deck, ‘Longtail’ Airbrake and diffuser.
PUTTING YOU IN CONTROL
The driver focused interior intensifies the thrill of driving the 675LT.
Alcantara Interior
Long associated with an uncompromising motorsport ethos,
lightweight Alcantara is offered as standard equipment
throughout the interior. Durable, high-grip and incredibly
tactile, Alcantara features across the cabin, including the
racing seats, dashboard and steering wheel. Carbon fiber
trim provides an ideal contrast to this high-tech upholstery,
and features a satin-lacquered finish to reduce weight and
generate maximum visual impact.
Tactile Controls
An Alcantara trimmed three-spoke steering wheel provides
high grip levels and unprecedented tactility, creating the
ultimate sense of connection between car and driver.
Elongated steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles finished
in satin-lacquered carbon fiber, meanwhile, ensure gear
changes are easily accessible in the heat of on-track battles.
A central rev counter featuring an exclusive laser-etched 675LT
logo complements these specially tailored changes.
Carbon Fiber Racing Seats
With a sensational 675PS (666bhp) at your disposal, and
suspension and aerodynamics enhanced for even sharper
handling, it’s essential you’re held securely in place while
pushing the 675LT to its limits. Racing seats derived from the
already iconic McLaren P1 are the ultimate solution. Featuring
carbon fiber construction and trimmed predominantly in
Alcantara with leather detailing, the racing seats contribute
15kg to the overall 100kg weight saving.
A Truly Focused Interior
The 675LT’s engineers have left no stone unturned in the quest
to save weight and heighten driver engagement. Even the
air-conditioning system, for instance, has been removed to save
a further 11.5kg, but can be specified as a no-cost option if
desired. Elsewhere, the climate controls previously located on
the armrests have been removed altogether to reduce
complexity and weight; the driver now controls these settings
via the central touchscreen.
PERFORMANCE

18 Khadine Bryan_Spring 2016

A BOLD PERFORMANCE
Advanced race-proven technology delivers a thrill like no other.
We have over 50 years of success on the racetrack, and those
decades of expertise feed directly into all our road cars. The 675LT is
no exception. Inspired by the 1997 McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’, it deploys
motorsport-developed technology to create the most extreme driving
experience of any McLaren series-production supercar.
The 675LT has been extensively optimized within the in-house wind
tunnel at the McLaren Technology Centre, an astonishingly potent raceproven
engine produces 675PS (666bhp) and 700Nm (516lb ft), and the
suspension system has been engineered for even sharper responses.
The process might be grounded in hard data, but the result is more
engagement, more raw emotion and more mind-blowing
performance. The McLaren 675LT propels driving enjoyment to an
entirely new dimension.
POWER, A BEAUTIFUL THING
A twin-turbocharged V8 engine,
super-fast dual-clutch gearbox,
lightweight titanium exhaust…
...the beating heart for the 675LT gets the adrenaline pumping.
Our twin-turbocharged V8 engine has always
been the most potent in its class. Now our
engineers have unleashed an additional 25PS
(25bhp) and 22Nm (16lb ft) for a thrilling 675PS
(666bhp) and 700Nm (516lb ft), and a classleading
549PS (541bhp) per tonne.
Extraordinary precision defines the 675LT
as much as extraordinary performance.
Lightweight connecting rods, bespoke
camshafts and a new electronic recirculation
valve, all maximize engine response, while
300 percent stiffer engine mounts optimize the
connection between driver and road surface.
New machined-from-solid turbocharger
compressor wheels maximize airflow to the
combustion chambers, and an optimized fuel
pump increases fuel flow. The combined result
is breathtaking performance.
20 Khadine Bryan_Spring 2016

Super-Fast Gearbox
Our seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox already
provides near-instantaneous shifts to the other
models in the McLaren Super Series, but the 675LT’s
revised software strategy slashes response times to
make gear changes twice as fast. Briefly cutting
the ignition between changes creates the fastest
possible shift, and an incredibly intense sound.
The result is not only increased performance but a
heightened sense of connection for the driver.
Titanium Exhaust
A new lightweight titanium exhaust system instantly
differentiates the 675LT, thanks to its distinctive
twin exhaust outlets and uniquely rich, aggressive
sound, particularly under full acceleration. But the
lightweight exhaust system also plays a crucial role
in unlocking the 675LT’s additional performance. A
specially designed ‘crossover’ system – where the
exhaust section that exits on the V8 engine’s left
bank actually exits on the right of the car, and vice
versa – provides the exact length of titanium tubing
required for ultimate performance.
SUBLIME HANDLING
Whether you’re chasing crucial tenths on the racetrack or enjoying a favorite
road, the chassis of the McLaren 675LT provides the ultimate feedback.
Carbon Fiber Brakes
The 675LT is specified with carbon fiber brake discs, greatly
increasing stopping power and longevity compared with
conventional brake systems. Six-piston calipers grip 394mm
discs at the front, with four-piston calipers and 380mm discs at
the rear. Stopping distances are further reduced with the
‘Longtail’ Airbrake, which deploys under heavy braking and
features a unique control strategy to match the extreme
capabilities of the 675LT.
Pirelli P-ZERO Trofeo R Tires
Road-legal, but with an extreme track focus, Pirelli P-ZERO
Trofeo R tires are fitted to the 675LT as standard equipment
for peerless handling. The highly specialized tread pattern
creates six percent more grip in normal conditions, and a stiffer
structure significantly increases steering response and supports
the 675LT’s sharper handling and faster reactions. Road-biased
Pirelli P-ZERO tires are available as a no-cost option.
24 Khadine Bryan_Spring 2016

Lightweight Alloy Wheels
Weighing 800g less than even the alloy wheels on the
McLaren P1, the Ultra Lightweight forged alloy wheels have
been specially commissioned for the McLaren 675LT. Supplied
in a 19-inch front and 20-inch rear fitment, the distinctive
10-spoke design is available as standard. A striking Super
Lightweight five-spoke design can be ordered for additional
impact. In both styles, these designs significantly reduce
unsprung weight to optimize driver feedback.
McLaren P1-Inspired Suspension
The 675LT has a suspension system that has been radically
engineered for extra driver engagement. With significant
learnings taken from the McLaren P1, the 675LT boasts
increased agility and a decrease in mass by 13.7kg. The front
track is 20 percent wider than that of the other Super Series
range, spring rates increase 27 percent at the front, 63 percent at
the rear, and an increased rake contributes to 40 percent more
downforce. Naturally, the three adjustable suspension settings are
uniquely calibrated for the hardcore focus of the 675LT.
