t hird-wave feminism began in the early 1990s and continues
to this day. This wave of feminism includes a diverse array of
strands and micro-politics, but it's most important aspect is
intersectionality, including different racial backgrounds and
gender identities, incorporating the queer community, debating
how those groups are distinctively affected by the patriarchy,
Gender binaries and their expectations are questioned, derogatory
terms are taken back. The Riot Grrrl movement is seen as the root
of this wave and wanted to empower women's control over their
own expression. Further on, with the internet, third-wave feminists
have the unique possibility to engage, understand, inform and give
voice to a greatly large and diverse audience.
