Aktive Annual Report 2014/2015 14 M E A BIG PLAY “Aktive is providing much needed focus to encourage more Aucklanders into sport and New Zealand Rugby is delighted to work alongside it in achieving its goals.” Steve Tew CEO, New Zealand Rugby Aktive works with and through a number of key partners to fund and deliver projects throughout Auckland communities. With a region as large, as populated and as culturally and geographically diverse as Auckland, this coordinated approach is crucial to get the best for, and out of, Auckland. Aktive continues to provide leadership for the entire Auckland sport and recreation sector whilst regional sport trusts (RSTs) leverage their local expertise and connections to deliver programmes and capability services to their communities. As processes and culture have become embedded, Aktive has been able to get its hands dirty with the early roll out of additional Auckland-wide initiatives such as Good Sports and Us Girls. But it has also led the response to the bigger national and regional issues like the Unitary Plan and Sport New Zealand’s Community Sport Strategy. As momentum gathers and we chalk up wins against the first two of our strategic priorities – More Aucklanders More Active and Stakeholder Alignment And Sector Development, Aktive has also been able to widen its focus slightly, and bring projects targeting the remaining priorities – Sporting Excellence Promoted and Celebrated and Spaces and Places – into play. The performance against these four strategic priorities is summarised in the Statement of Service Performance on pages 15-16, then outlined in more detail in the sections that follow.
