NUDE: How would you describe the world of modeling to someone who didn’t know what it was? Mathew: Modeling isn't all glamorous like it is made out to be. Yes, there are moments of excitement when you book a big job or work with someone you've always wanted to work with, but there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that goes unnoticed. To be in the industry, you have to be very grateful because not a lot of people get to do what you do. NUDE: Is modeling something you always wanted to pursue? Mathew: I never considered pursuing modeling until a model I knew in college purchased her own car and I thought "Man, I need a car too! Let me see if I can do this." NUDE: Describe your dream modeling job. Mathew: A Givenchy campaign would be my dream job! I respect Ricardo Tisci and his vision so much. NUDE: Are you pursuing other things besides modeling? Mathew: Actually I have a full plate; besides modeling I am pursuing acting and also trying to start my own swimwear brand for women. Work, work, work, work!! NUDE: What’s the most important thing in your life? Mathew: God and my family. NUDE: When was the last time you felt nervous? Mathew: The other day I was told by my agents at Soul that I needed to send them photos and videos of myself in underwear for a Givenchy casting - as soon as possible. I just moved to California (mind you), so making a family member take these photos and videos made me a little nervous and on edge, but it all worked out for the best. NUDE: What’s the best thing about you? Mathew: I'm very loving, I want the best for people and I never want to hurt or step on anyone's toes the wrong way. I truly am grateful for everything in life! NUDE: What is worth fighting for? Mathew: Your identity in this world. I'm definitely not trying to be another model clone. Fight for your identity and leave your mark. Model // 15
