(i) The Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Wild Life (C.W.L.W) with
headquarters at Lucknow is in the overall administrative charge of the protection of
wildlife for whole of State. He is designated as Chief Wild Life Warden for purposes of
Wild Life ( Protection) Act. 1972. His office is known as additional general direction
division. The C.W.L.W, is under the administrative control of P.C.C.F.

The charges of Prince of Wales Zoological Garden, Lucknow and Kanpur Zoological
Garden are held by officers of the rank of Deputy Conservator of forests and known as
Director. The Prince of Wales Zoological Garden, Lucknow is under a trust.
. (E).Ranges (1) An up to date list of forest ranges in each division shall be maintained in the
P.C.C.Fs., C.C.Fs. and Conservator's offices and a copy shall be supplied by the P.C.C.F
to the AG.UP.
(F) Beats- Each range is sub-divided into beats, and each beat is normally in charge of a Forest
Guard. The limits of beats are normally not changed except on working plan revision or
