The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.
MONTHLY MEETINGS ARE HELD
AT 6.30 P.M. ON THE 3 RD TUESDAY
OF EVERY MONTH AT YOSEMITE
FALLS CAFE, 4278 W. ASHLAN AVE,

ATTEND THE MEETINGS AND MEET
OUR MEMBERS.
Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is
defined in Article III, section 1 of the
bylaws in part as follows: "Membership in
Central Valley Corvettes shall be open to all
Corvette owners who are sponsored by a
member in good standing. Additionally, a
prospective member must, within a three
month period , attend two consecutive
meetings, participate in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two- thirds vote of membership present at
any general membership meeting by secret
ballot
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all
members must be a member of the
association providing club liability insurance
for CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings
or two sanctioned activities.
CVC membership dues are $67.00 plus an
initiation fee of $35.00. Membership entitles
two members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

Hi all. Once again the CVC Picnic at
Kroekerville was a great success. Our
change from Mexican food to tri‐tip
and chicken seemed to go over well. I
guess we can officially call the picnic
an annual event now. Many thanks to
the Kroeker folks and our board for all
the work required to put it on. Hope
everybody had a good time.
I looked at the run schedule for the
rest of the year and except for the
Mystery Run and Craig’s North by
Northwest Run there aren’t any more
“going someplace” runs scheduled.
This would be a good time for a
member or members to put on a 2‐3
day run to that special place they’ve
had in the back of their minds and
always wanted to do a run there. If
any newer members want to put on a
run don’t hesitate to ask around for
advice and hints from the “old
heads”.
I know it can be quite a bit of work but
I’ve learned from doing the Mystery
Runs that you get a lot of satisfaction
from showing members a good time
and introducing them to new
experiences.
Election time for a new Board will be
coming up in a few short months. If
anyone is interested in running for a
board position talk to the incumbent
and get an idea of what the job entails.
Charlotte Renna (VP Public
Relations/Membership) is the only
board member not termed out this
year. Being on the board does take
some of your time but working with all
the wonderful people we have in the
club does make it a truly rewarding
experience.

Sunshine and Clouds report was given by Jan
Pflepsen.
Charlotte said that plans for the 25th
Anniversary party are coming right along and
that it is going to be at Larry Linder’s
beautiful place.
The General meeting was called to order at
6:30 by President Gary Pflepsen.
The minutes from the April meeting were
read by Debby Anderson, Secretary. Glen
Henderson made a motion to accept the
minutes as read and it was seconded by Del
Walker. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report was given by Skip
Severance in Mike Lebda’s absence.
VP of Activities Skip Severance had the run
leaders report on the previous month’s
runs. The upcoming runs are The Grizzly
Den lunch run 6/11, Word from Home Car
Show 6/26, Presidents Mystery Tour 7/6 to
7/9, North by Northwest Tour 8/27 to 9/11,
25 th Anniversary Party 10/22.
VP of PR/ Membership Charlotte Renna
gave the Birthday and Anniversary report.
We welcomed new members Diane Tjerrild,
Bob Peluso and David & Lori Dukes into the
club. Steve & Lydia Garcia are visitors
tonight for their second meeting, Dessert
tonight was in honor of Joe Renna’s
favorites.
There was no new business to report tonight.
The next General Meeting will be Tuesday,
June 21st.
The next Board Meeting will be Monday, May
23rd at 6:00pm at Gary Pflepsen’s

Central Valley Corvettes turns 25!
Come Celebrate on October 22, 2016
In 1991, a group of corvette enthusiast gathered together
to make a better world for themselves & fellow corvette
lovers. During this year, up to Oct, when this wonderful
event happened, you will read articles to remind you of
how this came to be and you will hear about events and
the people that made them happen.
The committee for our 25th anniversary party had their
first meeting. The Committee is: Charlotte Renna, Connie
& Andy Anderson, Debbie & Keith Garrison, Patricia &
Patrick Garrahan & Robert Peluso. The event location
was chosen. Comm. members will be contacting various
food vendors for prices. Next month we will meet again
to continue our planning.

‘In the Garage’ with Charlie Fosnaugh
General Motors Files "ZR1" Trademark,
Range-Topping Corvette Could Be On The Way
It’s been seven years since Chevrolet used the “ZR1” name to denote the topof‐the‐line
Chevrolet Corvette. But with the seventh‐generation Vette due for
replacing, it looks like General Motors is planning to bring back the badge
before the Corvette C7 gives way to the next‐generation model. According to
Autoblog, GM has filed a trademark application for the name “ZR1” with the
U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Apparently, GM wants to use the name for “motor land vehicles, namely,
automobiles,” a telling sign that the long‐rumored return of the Corvette ZR1
is inching closer and closer to becoming a reality. No specifics were given on
what GM plans to do with the “ZR1” name, but if history is any indication, it
could be used on a range‐topping Corvette that would sit above the Corvette
Z06. Such a car has been talked about before, most recently when news broke
that Chevrolet is planning to turn the Corvette into a mid‐engine sports car
that can compete against its European counterparts. It’s unclear if the ZR1
name will be used on the eighth‐gen C8 model or on a send‐off model for the
current‐generation C7. Either way, the return of the ZR1 could only mean great
things for Chevrolet.

It’s worth noting that General Motors already owns the trademark for “ZR‐1,”
a name that it has used in past Corvette models, most recently in 1995 with the
LT5‐powered model. It also used the ZR1 name from 2009 to 2013 on a model
that featured a supercharged LS9 6.2L small‐block V‐8 that produced 638
horsepower and 604 pound‐feet of torque.
Whatever decision GM makes, it looks like the company is finally staking claim
to the name with the filing of this trademark application.

Another great CVC road trip is now booked and we will be
on our way August 27 th 2016. Here’s part of the preview show.
This marks our third great road trip. The first adventure with 10 Corvettes was to the Southwest in October
of 2011 where we visited Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches National Park, Durango and the Silverton Railroad,
Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chilly, Monument Valley and our old friend Angel Delgadillo in Seligman. In April
of 2014 with 13 Corvettes in tow, we ventured into Sedona, Santa Fe, New Mexico, the 1945 Trinity site where
the atomic bomb was first tested in 1945, Carlsbad Caverns, Tombstone, Tucson, Yuma and more.
Now, the direction heads to the great Northwest with over 20 Corvettes signed up to explore Canada, Glacier
National Park, Custer Battlefield, Yellowstone National Park and Golden Spike National Monument as some
of the highlights. For those that have been on all three trips, you will have driven your Corvette into all 11
western contiguous states (California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado,
New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada) plus the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
