When driving to fetes and other activities you are reminded that you should:
attention of a passer-by in your vehicle’s trunk or remove them before you leave your
house
Ensure your car’s alarm system is working properly. Check your alarm’s batteries
during the season. Improve your car’s security by having an Immobiliser /GPS or a
state-of-the-art alarm system fitted.
Fight for Fit
I particularly don’t believe in magic but I think that’s what some people
expect to happen when they hit the gym after the Christmas season, in
preparation for the Carnival season. Staying fit and healthy is easier and
more beneficial when done as a lifestyle rather than for a season. Then
again, we won’t be ‘true Trinis’ if we don’t flood the gyms and jump on
the workout bandwagon pre-Carnival to get in shape. Nothing’s wrong
with that but the struggle to get there sure is real for some. Whether it’s
to fit into a band costume, a best fete outfit or to just feel better about
one’s self.
Here are some simple tips to assist in winning the fitness fight:
Positive mind-set
Set a realistic body goal for yourself then work hard towards it. “Rome was not built in a day” so don’t
expect to see drastic results in under a week, don’t be easily discouraged. Paste and motivate yourself and
go hard. It also helps to surround yourself with persons with similar goals, get a partner of join a group so
that on days you don’t feel like working out someone is there to push you.
Research
This goes a long way, from knowing what is the best workout regime for your body to figuring out what
foods to consume and how to consume them. Around the Carnival season a lot of fitness establishments
and independent bodies hold work out seminars for just this reason. If you rather do it yourself, google &
youtube comes in handy for simple work routines that can be performed from home.
Diet & Exercise
Ok, hold up! We Are Having A Mic Drop Moment. The holy grill, the real deal. Diet and exercise are two
sides of the same coin and can do wonders to one’s body once applied, as it targets both inner and outer
health. This is the ultimate formula for becoming the best you physically possible. It however requires a
lot of dedication, time and the first two points.
But due to the lack of time between Christmas splurging and Carnival cool down, focus on cardio
exercise, eating clean and drinking lots of water. Cardio is the most common and most effective form of
weight loss exercise which focuses on increasing your heart rate and metabolism, take running for
instance.
