Mission Statement:
We promote education and
the importance of making
Green/Sustainable choices
for those in our chamber and
community. Providing affordable
and effective ways to
contribute to a Green Lifestyle
enables all involved to
give back to both the local
community and planet.
The Big Green Event is where Southern Arizona gathers to laugh and learn
with all the Environmental and Earth-Friendly businesses and non-profits.
Their positive and varied practices are showcased from 9am-3pm, Saturday,
November 5th, 2016 at Crossroads Park in Marana.
For the 2nd year, all things Green will come together for a fun-filled and
educational day about our mother earth. There will be activities for all ages,
from tree planting to recycling; ethanol race-cars to environmental non-profits;
a trash art auction to a recycled fashion show. Green is not only good for our
environment, but it is proven great for our economy. There will be ample
opportunities to learn from local experts about the value of Green Practices.
Green is good for our bottom line and for our future.
Among our many exhibitors are local restaurants and growers, educators
and community activists, contractors and service companies, artists, green
technology and just good folks who care about our planet.

THE BIG GREEN EVENT
Saturday November 5, 2016
9am - 3pm at Crossroads Park in Marana, Arizona
The Marana Chamber of Commerce, The Town of Marana, and local businesses have come together
to participate in the 2nd annual Big Green Event on November 5th 2016 at Crossroads Park in Marana.
The Big Green Event is where Southern Arizona gathers to laugh and learn
with all the Environmental and Earth-Friendly businesses, non-profits and
their varied practices. The event is designed to promote and educate the
importance of making Green/Sustainable choices in our community.
Our Kid’s Scavenger Hunt/Invasive Plant clean-up will kick-off the event at 9am on November 5th with
families finishing these activities at the Big Green Event’s Loop entrance. Music will start off at 10am
on our Main Stage. Then, our Master of Ceremonies, Dan Marries from KOLD news, will be on center
stage introducing featured entertainment and green demonstrations as Dan sets the pace for the
calendar of events.
Admission is a recycled item or non-perishable food item for the Marana Food Bank. Community greenoriented
businesses are sponsoring this event along with local green/wellness business exhibitors.
The event will include a recycling center (including electronics), main stage entertainment, educational
presentations, local food vendors, a farmer’s market, and a micro-brew beer garden. Several off-site
locations will feature Park and Bike/Walk to the event with a Bike Valet ready for you!
Attendees will also be given a passport to collect stamps from vendors to be entered in prize drawings.
The Big Green Event is your passport to a Greener World. Hope to see you there!

Research shows that Green Consumers- Nielson Case Studies
• Are sincere in their intentions, with a growing commitment to greener lifestyles;
• Almost always judge their own environmental practices as inadequate;
• Do not expect companies to be perfect in order to be considered ‘green’. Rather, they look
for companies that are taking substantive steps and have made a commitment to improve.
Top Segments of Green Consumers-
Natural Marketing Institute’s labels for LOHAS (lifestyles of health and sustainability)
consumers.
• LOHAS — very progressive on environment and society, looking for ways to do more; not
too concerned about price (16%).
• Naturalites — primarily concerned about personal health and wellness, and use many
natural products; would like to do more to protect the environment (25%).
• Conventionals — practical, like to see the results of what they do; interested in green
Why a Green Investor will be making a great investment in the Big Green Event
Nielson
NEW YORK – June 17, 2014 – Fifty-five percent of global online consumers across 60 countries
say they are willing to pay more for products and services provided by companies that
are committed to positive social and environmental impact, according to a new study by Nielsen.
The propensity to buy socially responsible brands is strongest in Asia-Pacific (64%), Latin
America (63%) and Middle East/Africa (63%). The numbers for North America and Europe are
42 and 40 percent, respectively.
“Consumers around the world are saying loud and clear that a brand’s social purpose is among
the factors that influence purchase decisions,” said Amy Fenton, global leader of public development
and sustainability, Nielsen. “This behavior is on the rise and it provides opportunities for
meaningful impact in our communities, in addition to helping to grow share for brands.”
Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Efforts Can Boost the Bottom Line
Some fifty-two percent of global respondents in Nielsen’s survey say their purchase decisions
are partly dependent on the packaging – they check the labeling first before buying to ensure
the brand is committed to positive social and environmental impact. Sustainable purchase
considerations are most influenced by the packaging in Asia-Pacific (63%), Latin America (62%)
and Middle East/Africa (62%) and to a lesser extent in Europe (36%) and North America (32%).
