ou’re engaged and you’ve set a date. Now what?
In our experience as wedding planners, our first
piece of advice to clients is set a wedding budget. Then,
once you’ve determined the most you’re willing to spend
(and where you’ll source the funds), set aside 20% of
your total budget. Hide it. Get rid of it as far away
from yourself as possible. This 20% will serve as your
emergency fund ONLY IN AN EMERGENCY to
cover last-minute purchases, or cost overruns. Holding
fast to your budget will require discipline, courage and
sheer willpower but you’ll be so much happier (and far
less stressed), if you do.
