POLICY Project<br />

A five-year project funded by USAID with<br />
operations in more than 40 countries<br />
including Cambodia and Vietnam. The<br />
project is implemented by the Washingtonbased<br />
Futures Group, a Constella company,<br />
in collaboration with the Centre for<br />
Development and Population Activities<br />
and Research Triangle Institute. In<br />
Cambodia, initiatives include working with<br />
monks to combat stigma and discrimination,<br />
protecting human rights, empowering<br />
people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS,<br />
and strengthening partnerships between<br />
government and civil society. Other<br />
activities include developing guidelines<br />
for the HIV/AIDS law passed in 2002,<br />
and working with marginalized groups.<br />

International (PSI)<br />

American-based organization which<br />
launched Number One condoms in<br />
Cambodia in late 1994. By the end of<br />
2003, more than 120 million had been<br />
sold and the brand had an estimated 80<br />
percent share of the market. In 2002, PSI<br />
launched the United Health Network<br />
(UHN) of local and international NGOs<br />
and the Sun Quality Health Network<br />
(SQHN) of private-sector clinics. PSI has<br />
also introduced Care female condoms,<br />
a water-based lubricant called Number<br />
One Plus, which mainly targets sex workers<br />
and men who have sex with men, as well<br />
as OK condoms, which are targeted at<br />
couples.<br />
