Life is a series of moments,
touchstones, and memories.
We record these in our
mind, in photographs,
stories, music and artwork.
Everything creative that we
put out into the world is a
celebration of life, its
dynamics, and growth.
SUR is platform to share
these experiences and
creations.
+ Downtown LA at dusk
Gilded
By Caitlin Dinunzio
I speak Catholic.
A boy of backward army boots.
Fish-hooked smiles before
a stoned-statued kiss.
Mom and popped stores
have rolling-pinned glass eyes.
Color-coded contradictions—
We were Two,
Blue for me.

Agave Blend
By Evan Burkin
Barlight tangos
bathe the street
in incandescent halos
A prophecy
of tangerine prose
A promise
for the tequila
dry soul
Still so thirsty
In the scalloped sands
wither their smiles
to grasp the bottle
Such a light rapture
They dance
in the sea's green shade.
Study in Blue
By Caitlin Dinunzio
Clipped crow feathers,
frizzled halo—
She’s a calico cat chasing
a red herring in drag.
With red crescent-caressed cigarettes,
She smoked out her purity.
Skin drying on the clothesline,
The dirty lemon-dropped virgin.
Let's take a breather
To When I (saw you)
By Daniella Islas
rewind
to when I wrapped my arms around your
neck
felt the warmth of your face
against mine
I could only look into your eyes
for a second, before they'd
break my heart on your shoulder
I could have held you for a lifetime
and I should've

Forever
The intimate LA gig sold
out in five minutes. It
was the only west coast
show following their east
coast and UK tour
promoting the upcoming
release of their second
album The Ride.
The energy was
undeniable. Their music
carries a touch of angst
and retrospect, a sound
that reminds me of my
teenage spirit days, and a
sound I’ve surprisingly
missed. The simplicity of
lyrics and build-up is
refreshing; an aspect lost
in the ambient music and
the remix beats of today.
The band released The
Ride in May and it
topped the UK album
charts at #1 in June.

The Wild Reeds
@ The Fonda Theater
The LA based band was a beautiful and serendipitous
discovery. There was a quality in their voices that
captured the venue and spoke to my soul that night in
a harmony of classic folk and rock sound.
