j michael sullivan Marshfield Hills, massachusetts My father, Jack Sullivan Jr., photographed Monhegan Island in the summer of 1975 traveling with a group of fellow photographers from the Alpha photo group of Washington D.C. Back then very few outside of Maine had even heard of Monhegan. His dedication to capturing "the essence" of a place largely inspired me to become a professional photographer in 1977.
