Dear Readers,
An escape from the searing heat. A season
when nature comes to life in all its glory.
Monsoon! By the time you read this, I
hope that you have all experienced the joy
of this, the most joyous of all seasons.
Allow me now to walk you through
the moments of joy and accomplishments
experienced by our SpiceJet family last
month. We celebrated our 11th Anniversary
by adopting 11 villages in the parched
Latur district of Maharashtra and providing
them water every day. This project has
been a phenomenal success. We have had
both financial and volunteer help pour
in from across the country and overseas.
We are grateful to all the organisers
who gave us this opportunity to help.
Our involvement in this project brought
home the terrible scarcity of water in our
country and I invite all my colleagues
and customers to embrace the idea of
responsible consumption of water. The time for
corrective action is now.
At SpiceJet we strive for consistency, be
it in our on-time performance, highest load
factor or our socio-cultural initiatives. Just like
the last year, when we pioneered the concept
of Upa Yoga being practised mid-air at 35,000
feet, this year too we delighted our customers
by turning our flight cabins into their yoga
venues with our trained crew instructing
them on asanas. The difference is that this
International Yoga Day onwards (21st June), we
now offer yoga on board our select long haul
flights on a routine and an ongoing basis.
The month of May once again saw
SpiceJet with the highest passenger load
factor for the 13th consecutive month. This
time we created another record. Our load
factor was a whopping 93.5% which is an alltime
industry record.
Adding to our list of achievements,
we were humbled to receive the “Swift
Turnaround in an Airline Company” award
at the ASSOCHAM 9th International
Conference Civil Aviation and Tourism
Awards 2016. The prestigious award was
presented by Hon’ble Minister of Civil
Aviation, Mr Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
SpiceJet continues to endeavour
to make your travel more convenient
by using state-of-the-art technology. In
Mumbai, we have introduced a selfcheck-in
kiosk that customers can use to
print their boarding cards, baggage tags
and self-drop bags. In Hyderabad and
Bangalore, we will automatically deliver
your boarding cards to your SpiceJet app
on your mobile phones as you walk into
the airports. Alternatively, we have placed
check-in posters that can be touched
with your phones to receive boarding
cards instantly.
I recommend that you also try SpiceJet’s
refreshed SpiceMax service. Each SpiceMax
seat has greatly increased leg room. The
seats are leather. You get a great free meal,
priority check-in and bag delivery. All this for
about `1000!
