KERALA TO ORGANISE
CULINARY FEST AS PART OF
MUZIRIS PROMOTION
Among the events to be organised for the
promotion of Kerala’s Muziris Heritage
Project, launched by President Pranab
Mukherjee, will be a culinary festival
presenting delicacies from 31 countries. The
Muziris port, said to have been located in the
Paravur-Kodungalloor region, is the bedrock
of Spice Route – an initiative of Kerala
Tourism, involving 31 countries with whom
the port had trade relations. The festival will
be held in September at Bolghatty Palace.
Given the involvement of so many nations,
the Centre, too, is expected to play an
important diplomatic role.
INDIAN GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES A
DEDICATED WELLNESS TOURISM BOARD
A National Medical and Wellness Tourism Board has been
constituted to provide institutional framework for promoting
medical, wellness, yoga and Ayurveda tourism. Three subcommittees
have been set up to look into issues relating to
visa, accreditation and allied services, and marketing.
MADHYA PRADESH GEARS UP FOR TOURISM
Madhya Pradesh is developing its tourism infrastructure, with
`13 billion worth of public and private investments expected this
year. State tourism officials state that the new funding will cover
a range of areas, including 300 roadside amenities such as cafes,
restrooms, parks and parking facilities. The state government
is focusing on wildlife, rural and religious tourism areas and
activities, as well as expanding its accommodation offerings.
