What’s on in Brent – July2016 and onwards
Updated: 01/07/2016

artworks: As you have probably noticed, artworks, South Brent's wonderful little 'much more than a
gallery' in the heart of the village moved three doors up Station Road and has now reopened. It is
now neatly sandwiched between 'Foggs' deli and the The Oak. We wish Jane (who is currently this
year's South Brent Community Champion) and Penny all the best in their new venue, See
www.artworksouthbrent.co.uk/.
South Brent Feoffees: Grants from South Brent Feoffees are available to support post 18 education
for all young residents of South Brent parish. Application forms are available from The Clerk to the
Trustees via Luscombe Maye office in the village. Grants are not income related but reflect whether
the student is studying away from home or living locally and in what year of study the application is
made. Each individual can apply once a year for 3 years whether it is a university course or vocational
training. Our allocation of funds varies according to the number of applications and the amount
made available each year by the charity. The deadline is Monday 31 October 2016 and applications
need to be supported by a letter of authority from the student’s college or university.
friendly cricket. Enthusiasm and commitment are all you need! If you would like to register an
interest in the club then please use the club contact form or you are always welcome to turn up to
any of our practice sessions. All abilities and levels are welcome and the club also has a youth section.
That’s all folks!
‘What’s on in Brent’ is collated and distributed by request to 549 email addresses by John Rawlinson from
information sent to us.
Our aim is to support local events and let people know what is going on in the village.
Email us (at J.Rawlinson@plymouth.ac.uk or info@english-on-dartmoor.com) with information about
events that you are organising or hear about in or around the village - the more the merrier. Let us know as
early as you like, but before the 25 th of the month preceding the event. Be as brief as possible and include
venue, times, ticket price, the charity if it is a charity event, contact details etc... (Please note we don’t
attach posters to the mailout).
If you are planning an event, please check that your event doesn’t clash with another village event by
looking at the 'What's on diary' on the new South Brent Community website (www.southbrent.org.uk/).
'What's on' is now presented there in an easy to use, colour coded events calendar, which incorporates
information sent to 'What's on in South Brent'. If you have an event arranged, please check that it is listed
on the community website 'What's on diary' correctly. If you run a regular class or sessional activity, please
review your entry in the 'Activities' section of the website. If anything needs updating, please let John
Shepherd the webmaster know. You can also click on 'Contact us' on the left hand menu and complete the
form there with any new items or email John (john.shepherd@southbrent.co.uk).
Please let us know if any advertised events are cancelled.
