Hvad er SPS?
SPS er støtte, som kan hjælpe dig gennem din uddannelse
på lige vilkår med andre studerende. Støtten gives i form af
specialpædagogiske hjælpemidler og andet, der støtter dig i
undervisningen og til eksamen.
Du kan modtage specialpædagogisk støtte, hvis du
• er ordblind/talblind
• har en fysisk diagnose
• har en psykisk diagnose
• er svagsynet eller blind
• er hørehæmmet eller døv.
SPS-støtteformer og hjælpemidler
Eksempler på støtte, hvis du er ordblind
• test, udredning og instruktion på VUC
• it-startpakke eller programpakke
• studiestøttetimer på VUC
• digitaliserede studiematerialer.
Eksempel på støtte, hvis du er talblind
• støttetimer
Eksempler på hjælpemidler, hvis du har en fysisk diagnose
• ergonomisk kontorstol på skolen og evt. i eget
hjem
• hæve-/sænkebord på skolen og evt. i eget hjem
• ergonomisk tastatur, mus, underarmsstøtte eller
stativ til at hæve bærbar computer.
Eksempler på støtte, hvis du har en psykisk diagnose
• støttetimer
• støtteperson
• kuglepude.
Eksempler på støtte, hvis du er svagsynet eller blind
• it-startpakke
• digitale studiematerialer
• CCTV.
Eksempler på støtte, hvis du er hørehæmmet eller døv
• tolkebistand
• FM-anlæg.
Derudover kan du søge om dispensation fra de fastsatte
eksamensbestemmelser, hvis du er ordblind eller har en
diagnose, som giver dig særlige udfordringer til eksamen.

Specialpædagogisk støtte gives ikke som økonomisk støtte
til leveomkostninger, medicin, transport, bøger, specialundervisning
m.v.
Hvis du har en fysisk eller psykisk diagnose, der gør, at du
ikke kan varetage et fritidsjob ved siden af dit studie, kan du
søge om handicaptillæg, hvis du får SU.

Hvem kan få SPS?
Såvel nyoptagne som de allerede indskrevne studerende
kan søge SPS, hvis man har en fysisk eller psykisk diagnose
eller er ordblind/talblind.
Søg SPS så tidligt som muligt, efter du er blevet optaget
på uddannelsen. Jo før du kontakter SPS-vejlederen på dit
studiested, jo hurtigere kan der søges om SPS. I forbindelse
med studiestart er der ofte lang sagsbehandlingstid i Kvalitets-
og Tilsynsstyrelsen, og derfor er det vigtigt, at SPSvejlederen
kan lave din ansøgning, så snart du er optaget.
Hvad skal du gøre for at søge SPS?
Kontakt SPS-vejlederen på dit studiested og aftal, hvilken
dokumentation der er relevant for at ansøge om SPS. Det
er dit eget ansvar at fremskaffe dokumentation fx fra egen
læge, sygehus eller kommune.

What is SPS?
Specific Learning Difficulties Support is intended to get you
through your higher education studies on equal terms with
other students. SPS can be specific assistive equipment or
measures taken to assist you in lectures or during exams.
You are eligible to receive Specific Learning
Difficulties Support if
• you are dyslexic or dyscalculic
• you have been diagnosed with a physical condition
• you have been diagnosed with a mental condition
• you are visually impaired or blind
• you are hard of hearing or deaf
Examples of SPS
Dyslexia
• a diagnosing talk and instruction at the Adult
Learning Centre (known as the VUC in Danish)
• an IT starter kit or a pack of IT programs
• one-to-one academic study instruction at the VUC
• digital study materials (e.g. books)
Discalculic
• one-to-one academic study instructions
Physical conditions
• an ergonomic chair
• a height-adjustable desk
• ergonomic computer equipment
Mental conditions
• academic learning support
• a person to help plan daily studies
• a cushion filled with anti-stress balls
Blindness or visual impairment
• an IT starter pack
• digital study materials
• other assistive devices
Hard of hearing or deafness
• sign language interpretation
• assistive listening devices
Furthermore, you can apply for exemption from the exam
conditions laid down, if you are dyslexic or have a diagnosis
which means that you have special challenges at exams.

If you are dyslexic or diagnosed with a mental condition,
you may apply for additional time to complete exams.
Specific learning disabilities support is NOT given as a financial
aid to cover living expenses, medical bills, transportation costs,
book expenses, special/additional instruction fees etc.
Who is eligible to receive SPS?
Newly enrolled students and students who are already
attending higher education may apply for SPS if they have
been diagnosed with a physical or mental disorder, or if they
are dyslexic.
What to do when you want to apply for SPS
• contact the SPS counsellor at your educational
institution and make sure you have prepared the required
documentation. The SPS counsellor can help you
determine what documentation you need in order to
apply for SPS.
• your documentation must be issued by a medical
practitioner or other medical specialist and must
state your diagnosis. If you have difficulties reading
and/or writing, you do not need to provide documentary
evidence of your condition.
• if you have documentation from your home country,
you must have it translated into English before giving it
to the SPS counsellor.
• your documentation must not have been issued more
than two years ago. If your documentation is more than
two years old, the Centre for Quality Supervison and
Regulation requires that you have a medical practtioner
issue a new medical certificate describing your
current condition (you can see a Danish doctor to have
this done). Price: Approximately DKK 500. You have to
cover this expense yourself.
• it will be to your advantage if the documentation
explains how your condition affects your daily life
and your study.
• your SPS counsellor will represent you and will apply
to the SPS and Disability Office under the Centre for
Quality Supervison and Regulation, which is under the
Ministry of Education.
