Etched Name Plates What are the differences between Aluminium, Brass and Stainless Steel Plates? ALUMINIUM – soft and pliable metal can be bent for application to curved surfaces. Low scratch resistance and will withstand exposure to most chemicals. BRASS – an alloy of copper and zinc, distinguishable by its gold colour. Can be used indoors or outdoors and has good chemical and scratch resistance. STAINLESS STEEL – tough enough for the harshest of environments, has excellent chemical, scratch and corrosion resistance, and withstands temperatures up to 1200°C.
