Challenge
Ita Brennan (ADC Beavers)
This year’s Beaver Handicraft competition was on the theme of “totem poles”,
and was won by the 8th North Watford Beavers.
In June, the older Beavers went to Well End and took part in “Beavers in Tents”,
sleeping under canvas for the first time!
The Beavers also took part in the Sports Day, with the Beaver section
competition won by the 6th North Watford.
The Outing this year was to Gulliver’s World – it was very wet, but that didn’t
stop us from having fun!
Jacqui Cutmore (ADC Cubs)
2015 started as a normal Cub year, but then we heard that there were two
potential leaders wished to open a new cub pack. During the summer we met
and explained what had to done and in October a new Pack was opened at the
synagogue in Nascot Road – the 11th North Watford. We wish them every
success in the future.
In May, we had the annual Athletes badge which was again held at Woodside
Stadium and 100 Cubs took part.
The District Cub camp at Lees Wood had the theme of “Scouting through the
ages” prompted by the fact that in 2016 we celebrate 100 years of Cubs. The
camp was attended by 123 Cubs and Leaders from seven Packs.
Some Packs in the District also took part in the County-run Bushcraft day and
the night hike.
September saw the launch of the new Cub Scout handbook which was
unfortunately greeted with mixed views.
The Eurohoc competition was held at Woodside, and 70 Cubs competed as
eleven teams. The competition was won by the 4th with the 6th and 9th in
second and third places respectively. Well done!
During the course of the year, 48 Chief Scouts Silver awards were presented to
Cubs across the District.
Sincere thanks to all who helped at district events throughout the year, because
without that help events would not be able to take place.
