The spectacle that imposes its norms<br />
on lived experience itself arises out of<br />
lived experience. The time of the spectacle, lived<br />
in the form of successive roles, makes the space<br />
of authentic experience the area of objective<br />
impotence, while at the same time the objective<br />
impotence that stems from the conditioning of<br />
privative appropriation makes the spectacle the<br />
ultimate of potential freedom.<br />
