The past week has been a tough one across NSW with the storm
hitting Pittwater hard. As you know the State Government has
declared Pittwater a natural disaster zone and you just have to
look at the impact to understand why. I would like to sincerely
thank all emergency service crews, our volunteers and Council
staff who banded together to attend emergencies and begin the
enormous clean-up. The neighbours who pitched in to assist
each other demonstrates the goodwill amongst us. Council is
coordinating a disaster clean-up plan. Details are on our website.

The courage and mateship shown in that war and in all subsequent
wars and military efforts underpins us as Australians. I’d like to

who continue to battle the effects of war. To the RSL, Legacy
and other volunteers who give their valued support – thank you.
Lest we forget.
As you are aware, Council has spent some time gathering
evidence-based information in order to respond to the NSW
Government’s ‘Fit for the Future’ local government reform process.
We remain opposed to one council and continue to be committed
to a strong and independent Pittwater Council, providing you with
local representation and delivery of local services on the existing
boundaries. It is now time for you to have your say.
The Your Pittwater. Your say brochure providing information about
‘Fit for the Future’ and Council’s response is available online at
pittwater.nsw.gov.au/reform. From next week you can get a copy
at our libraries and customer service centres. By mid May every
Pittwater home, ratepayer and business will receive a copy in
the mail.
Learn the secrets of successful grant writing!
Writing successful grants and funding applications is
a skill that can be learned, and we may be able to help.
This workshop is an ideal, practical guide to grant writing
for anyone seeking supplementary funding for projects
by applying for grants.
This is a practical step-by-step workshop where grants
from both the public and private sector will be assessed.
Bring your ideas for projects or applications currently in
development and have them assessed by ‘the grants guy‘-
facilitator Keith Whelan.
We will focus on environment and sustainability grants,
but the skills are transferable to any sector.
