CAMRA Potteries Cider Pub of the Season Autumn 2016 THE HOLY INADEQUATE, ETRURIA Address: 67 Etruria Old Road, Etruria, ST1 5PE Telephone: 07771 358 238 Opening Hours: Monday-Wednesday 4pm-11pm; Thursday 4pm-12midnight; Friday-Sunday 12noon- 12midnight Travel: D&G 17; First Potteries 4 & 4A This pub is a Free House that enjoys a glowing reputation among locals and visitors alike, run effectively and efficiently by Sarah and Paul Cope, along with their team of friendly staff. Just check out the awards that they have won: CAMRA Potteries Pub of the Year 2012, 2013, 2014 & 3rd Place in 2015; Staffordshire Pub of the Year 2013 & 2014; joint first place in The Potteries Pub Preservation Society’s Community Pub of the Year Award 2016. There are three hand pumps dedicated to rotating range of real ciders, plus a good selection of bottled ciders. Joule’s Pale Ale is the house beer; the other five ale pumps are ever-changing, with a strong preference given to microbreweries. The Holy is also LocAle accredited and two of the guest beers are served from Key Keg dispense; two foreign beers are also dispensed from tall fonts. Add to this mix the delicious pork pies that are available all day and there are now plans to serve full meals once the kitchen is up and running. The Holy is famed for staging regular bank holiday weekend beer festivals which are a magnet for beer lovers from The Potteries and further afield. The Pub consists of an L-shaped bar with the area by the traditional fireplace being sort out during winter although the warm welcome by Sarah, Paul and their team is given throughout the year. The recently refurbished back room is ideal for meetings and private parties. There is a large undercover beer garden and separate smoking area outside. Paul has also installed a micro-brewery will soon be producing beer. Sarah and Paul are committed to supporting their community, holding fundraising events such as auctions for local charities. The presentation is to be held at 7:30pm on Wednesday, 21 st September; you really should not need an excuse to visit a pub as good as this, but please use this as an excuse and come and raise a glass to a local success story. Staffordshire Moorlands CAMRA Pub of the Season Autumn 2016 THE COBBLERS, LEEK Address: 1-5 Russell Street, Leek, ST13 5JF Telephone: 01538 381190 Opening Hours: 12noon – 12midnight every day Travel: D&G X15 & 16 / First Potteries 18 (from Hanley) The Cobblers is conveniently located on Russell Street, a few steps from Leek’s main shopping street; it is a small, intimate free house offering six hand-pulls serving four rotating guests, plus Draught Bass and Greene King Abbot with regular beers from local brewery Wincle and one from Salopian brewery in Shropshire. its doors in October.
