Central Valley Corvettes - September 2016

Fall is upon us and along with that comes
election season at CVC. This year four of
the five board positions are open because
of the incumbents being termed out.
Charlotte Renna has one year of eligibility
left as Vice President/Public Relations and
has agreed to run for another year. That
leaves openings for President, Vice
President/Activities, Secretary and
Treasurer. These jobs do require some
time and effort but they are a great way to
give something back to a club that gives us
such fun, companionship and driving
adventures. Here’s a look at the open
positions and what they entail.
The President is the CEO and chairman of
the board and presides over the general,
special and board meetings. Other tasks
include writing this monthly letter for the
Newsletter and putting on the annual
President’s Mystery Run. I can truthfully
say that, with the exception of the grind of
writing this monthly missive, serving as
President has been a fun and rewarding
time.
The Vice President/Activities is the Run
King. He coordinates the calendar of all
the club events and works with the
sponsors as required to put on first class
runs.
The Secretary records the minutes of the
membership and board meetings. This also
requires that the membership meeting
minutes be provided in order to be
published in the monthly newsletter.
The Treasurer is in charge of and
responsible for all the funds of the
organization. He provides a written
monthly financial report, receives and gives
receipts for money due, deposits money
and writes checks.

Two years ago I very reluctantly accepted
the nomination for President and was
surprisingly elected. I had experience in
management positions in the military and
industry but this was my first opportunity to
be involved with a social organization. I can
truthfully say that leading CVC has been one
of highlights of my life (along with marrying
Jan and her Corvette). It’s been wonderful
to get to know so many of the members
more closely and share club experiences
with them. Putting on the annual
President’s Mystery Run is a real hoot. It’s a
challenge, but taking members to new
places and driving roads they haven’t been
on is worth it.
So if you like to work with people and would
like to give something back to the club that
gives us so much,
