August 28, 2016 15G MATTRESS WAREHOUSE: A comfortable BITV For Kim Knopf, founder and CEO of Mattress Warehouse, winning another Best in the Valley award confirms that her commitment to providing quality products and customer service has been a success. “This award is, in many ways, confirmation of a 33-year-old dream,” Knopf said. She opened her first Mattress Warehouse store in South Charleston in 1983. Back then, if you wanted to purchase a mattress, you had to go to a furniture store. Knopf wanted to specialize in mattresses and focus on the customer’s need for deep, restorative sleep. She knew then what so many are learning now: that quality, restful sleep is as important to good health as diet and exercise. “It is particularly rewarding when the residents of the area where I started this business, vote for Mattress Warehouse as the best place to purchase a mattress. I think it confirms that we had the right idea about customer service 30 years ago, and we still have the right idea today. I could not be more proud or grateful,” she said. Today, Mattress Warehouse is West Virginia’s largest Sealy and Tempur-Pedic mattress retailer. Knopf’s parent company, Innovative Mattress Solutions, has grown to 159 stores in six states.
