Fazio’s named Best
in Valley among
Italian eateries
A family-owned mainstay in Charleston since
1950 -- and here to stay, Fazio’s is still so overwhelmingly
popular and beloved that Charleston
Gazette-Mail readers, in both Kanawha and Putnam
counties, deemed it the best Italian restaurant
in the Kanawha Valley for 2016.
Authentic, homemade Italian cuisine -- from
pastas to pizzas and appetizers to desserts -- plus a
savory steak and seafood menu; an extensive wine
selection, available by bottle, carafe or glass; and a
warm, Old World atmosphere are among the attributes
that have established Fazio’s as a desirable
dining destination over six-plus decades.
“It’s nice to have that recognition,” said owner
Danny Fazio, the son of founder Joe. “We try to
stay consistent with our food -- and with our customers.
We have a lot of customers who come once
or twice a week. We’re thankful for those customers
and thankful to the community for supporting
us.
“I’ve been here since I was 11 and I’m 62 now. We
dedicate ourselves to the restaurant. My wife and I
are hands-on here every day,” he said.
Fazio added that a few rumors circulating that
the restaurant might be closing aren’t true. “We
just sold some of our property to AEP to build a
substation,” he explained.
“Believe me, we’re not going anywhere. We’re
here for the long haul.”
Fazio’s is located at 1008 Bullitt St. in Charleston.
Dining hours are 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through
Saturday. The restaurant is closed on Sunday and
Monday.
