Costumes From Downton
The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery,

This special exhibition features a selection of
costumes from series 1and 2 of the critically
acclaimed ITV drama Downton Abbey. See an
evening dress worn by Lady Mary, and a gown
worn by Cora, the Countess of Grantham as well
as outfits worn by other members of the cast. The
exhibition will be complimented by items from

Somme 100 - En Masse

to represent those 19,240 soldiers who lost their
lives on the first day of the Battle of the Somme
on July 1st 1916. This mass-participation project
will be created in partnership with an Artist
in Residence and provides the opportunity
for individual visitors, families, community
groups and schools to contribute towards
a cumulative work of art, the final piece
of which will be placed in situ at a special
service on 18th November. Don’t miss the

Brindley’s Mill and the James Brindley

eighteenth-century working corn mill celebrating
the work of James Brindley, millwright and canal
engineer. Dating from 1752 the mill has been
restored from a derelict state by the Brindley Mill
Preservation Trust and is the only known corn
mill attributable as the work of James Brindley.
Experience the sight and sound of a moving
waterwheel powering machinery and millstones
and admire the genius of the millwright and the
skills of the miller as you explore this fascinating
