Apostle (Dr.) Hayford Ikponmwonsa Alile, OFR, NPOM – ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER
Born on the 24th April, 1940, Apostle Hayford Alile briefly attended the University of Ibadan as a
Scholar in Physics and thereafter proceeded to Howard University, Washington D. C., where he
earned his B. A. degree in Economics and Mathematics. He later attended Rutgers Graduate School
of Management, New Jersey, USA for his MBA programme before proceeding to the Harvard
Business School where he bagged his AMP.
Apostle Alile’s rich working history began as an Economic and Financial Consultant to Louis Berger
Inc, East Orange, New Jersey, USA in 1968. Between 1969 and 1972, he served as Assistant
Director, Rutgers University Entrepreneurial Development Centre, New Jersey and Rutgers Minority
Investment Co. Inc. Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, 1972 – 1973. In 1973, he returned to Nigeria to
head the Management Consulting Department of the Centre for Management Development, Lagos,
and was from there he was appointed in 1976 as the Executive Director/CEO of the then Lagos Stock
Exchange (LSE). He later became the Director-General and Chief Executive of The Nigeria Stock
Exchange in 1979. He retired from that position in 1999 and was in the same year appointed to the
Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He subsequently joined the Boards of the Nigerian Security
Printing and Minting Co. Plc, and the Central Securities & Clearing Systems Limited (CSCS).
At the Centre for Management Development, he was responsible for the establishment of the Institute
of Management Consultants (IMCON) and the Nigerian Association of Management Consultants
(NAMCON). He currently holds the underlisted Chairmanship positions, namely:

A life member of the Nigerian Economic Society, he is a Fellow of several professional bodies, namely:
The Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM),
Institute of Directors (IOD)

Aposlte Alile holds the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (DSc) from Benue State University,
Makurdi, Nigeria and is also a recipient of the Nigerian National Honour Awards of the Officer of the
Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM).
Apostle Alile has authored several books in management development on Nigeria economy, the
capital market and Christian life. Apostle Alile was the Secretary General of the then National Union of
Nigeria Students (NUNS) 1963/64 and the Treasurer/Trustee of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC)
between 1984-1996.
Apostle Alile is happily married and is currently the Head St. Joseph’s Chosen Church of God Int’l a
church with very large followership within and outside Nigeria
