PONY CLUB INTRODUCTION TO
COACHING STEP 1
This course focuses on the basic skills needed to
begin coaching, including planning riding and
horse care sessions and the values underpinning
Pony Club coaching.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
• Pony Club Members aged 16 years or over who
are enthusiastic to teach the lower test levels (D/
D+).
• Past Members, supporters or parents over 25
years who have sound horse knowledge and are
enthusiastic to teach at D/D+.
• Pony Club coach wanting to refresh their ideas
or check they are in line with best practice.
Prior minimum knowledge: Pony Club C test or
equivalent.
1 DAY TRAINING COURSE
• Tutor:Participant ratio is 1:6.
• These courses develop participants through
discussion, group work and, most importantly,
activity. All participants will have the opportunity
to coach.
COSTING
Course costs may vary but usually around £20.

AGES 16+
UKCC LEVEL 1
The role of the Level 1 coach is to assist more
qualified coaches, delivering aspects of coaching
sessions, normally under direct supervision.
The UKCC Level 1 usually takes place over three
training sessions and one assessment.
Prior minimum knowledge: Pony Club C+ test or
equivalent.
