Religious Education School trips to KRAKOW prices from £249ppp Over recent years, Krakow has become an increasingly popular destination for Religious Studies. An educational trip will provide students with an eye-opening insight into Judaism and Christianity and encourage students to contrast the faiths and think how they may have caused social divisions and antisemitism pre-war which would later be exploited by the Nazis. The former capital of Poland is often referred to as “Rome of the North”, which isn’t surprising as today it remains an important centre of Catholicism, welcomes thousands of pilgrims each year, and boasts numerous churches, historic and modern, as well as many monasteries and convents. Alongside this, Krakow is home to Kazimierz, the former Jewish district which became a UNECSO World Heritage Site in 1978, and boasts many synagogues and museums dedicated to Judaism and the history of Jewish culture before the devastating events of the 20th century. As many already know, Krakow is home to the infamous Auschwitz- Birkenau Museum and Memorial, which was the largest German Nazi concentration and extermination camp to ever had existed. It has become a symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust where over 1.1 million men, women and children tragically lost their lives. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust from a new perspective, including various aspects of religious life in the camp, which were led by prisoners who ultimately risked their lives to participate in religious practices. 6 Follow us @AdaptableTravel
