15: A woman was among 

two people killed in the 

name of honour. 

According to DSP Malik 

Tahir Majid, the woman 

and man were hung from 

a tree. 

The DSP said the 

woman’s husband, father 

and brother have been 

arrested in connection 

with the murders and have 

confessed to the crime. 

The DSP added that 

the woman was a mother 

of three and the man murdered 

was her cousin. The 

initial report of the murders 

has been lodged and 

further investigation is

MULTAN, Sep 15: At least 

six people were killed and 

over 150 injured after 

Karachi-bound Awam 

Express collided with a 

freight train near Multan early 

on Thursday, officials and 

railways sources said. 

The incident took place 

near Bucch railway station in 

Sher Shah area, some 25 kilometers 

from here. 

The accident occurred 

when a man was reportedly 

overrun by a freight train and 

the freight train driver stopped 

the train to take out the body, 

said DCO Nadir Chattha. 15 

minutes later Awam Express 

heading on the same line collided 

with the stationary 

goods train. 

The driver of Awam 

Express has been declared 

responsible for the accident, 

which left at least six people 

dead and wounded over 150, 

out of which 10 were said to 

be in precarious condition. 

Three people trapped inside 

damaged carriages were also 

saved, said rescue workers. 

250 rescue workers provided 

medical aid to 50 

injured passengers on the spot 

before transferring them to the 

hospital. All the injured have 

been taken out of the train. 

The rescue work lasted four 

hours. The collision wrecked 

the engine and power van, and 

overturned four bogies of 

Awam Express. 

CEO Railways Javaid 

Anwar said the accident was a 

result of the Awam Express 

driver's negligence as he 

ignored the signal and did not 

stop the train in time. The 

CEO added that an initial 

report on the accident has 

been sent to the government.

joint counter-terrorism exercise 

between troops from 

Pakistan and US armies concluded

‘Inspired Gambit’ was taking

Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has 

said that the march against corruption 

and bad governance is not a 

crime and protests and marches are 

part of democratic rights of the

He emphasized that PTI will pursue 

anti corruption movement and 

we will not encircle any one’s home 

but hold a peaceful protest. People 

who are trying to end Panama Leaks 

issue will not succeed and in the end 

will disappear from the political

Palestinian and Kashmiri

unparalleled sacrifices for the 

last seven decades but the 

UN, and the so called human 

rights champions were least 

bothered. 

The JI chief said that India 

enjoying full support of the 

US, had become a serious 

threat to the world peace. The 

US was unjustifiably interfering 

in the region to build 

India as regional policeman. 

The US-India collusion 

against the CPEC had 

already come to surface.

Delhi's nefarious designs

Sacrifice 'to eat meat' is halaal: But to 

abuse or deny 'animal rights' is haraam! 

Although hunting animals is illegal, there are ways to 

flout the law, as poachers know. Leopards, cheetahs, 

crocodiles, snakes, cattle and alligators for 

their skin, minks, foxes, beavers, jackals, rabbits, skunks, 

possums, etc. for fur, elephants for ivory, tiger nails, feathers, 

horns, bones of animals etc. are used for the purposes 

of jewelry, making various instruments and decorative 

pieces, bone fertilizers, etc. Animals are skinned alive for 

the fur and skin, and many times they are bashed to death. 

It does say a lot about human character! Many question 

about the conscience of the people who are initiating such 

acts of violence against animals. But those very same people 

wear the goods produced from leather of animals. A 

boycott of these goods, like jackets, shoes and handbags, 

may be appropriate. 

Animal abuse can be reduced to a great extent, if people 

stop treating animals as their personal property. They end 

up abusing animals more because of their attitude that animals 

are needed either as food or as companions or for 

entertainment. Animal rights may also be an important 

issue as Human Rights. Some people even demand that the 

issue of animal abuse should be given its due importance 

by punishing people who abuse animals the same way that 

people who abuse other humans or kids are punished! 

These animal rights activists believe: Only then is there any 

hope of reducing, and eventually stopping animal abuse.As 

long as the perpetrators are allowed to roam free, and not 

made to account for their acts of violence or negligence 

towards these innocent creatures who look to them for love 

and care, there is no way this can be stopped. 

Strict laws need to be put in place to protect these loving 

creatures who are at our mercy. The way we treat creatures 

which are at our mercy, reveals our true character. 

Mankind's true moral test, its fundamental test, which lies 

deeply buried from view, consists of its attitude towards 

those who are at its mercy: animals. And in this respect 

mankind has suffered a fundamental debacle. Some 

extremist animal rights activists also say: Of all the creatures, 

man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is 

the only one that possesses maximum malice towards 

God's creatures. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for 

sport, knowing it to be pain. The fact that man knows right 

from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to the other 

creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his 

moral inferiority to any creature that cannot. 

Animal abuse is an issue that many people feel strongly 

about. For centuries, humans have been torturing animals 

for personal benefit. These tortures have been selfishly justified 

by stating the necessity for food procurement, 

upgrading technology, and for boosting commerce. The 

most disturbing crimes against animals are the ones carried 

out merely for fashion, sports or pleasure. e.g. canned hunting. 

Those people who recognize this cruelty and raise their 

voices against it, are our saving grace. Though the Animal 

Welfare Act outlaws animal cruelty, it still exists in several 

direct and indirect forms. However, the fact that in the last 

few years people are increasingly raising their voices 

against these atrocities, is the indication of a civilization 

gradually maturing.The aspect that provides real hope is 

that this widespread indignation is not confined to just 

quotes, but supplemented with actions. Thomas Edison, 

American inventor and scientist believed: Non-violence 

leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. 

Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are 

still savages.

One evening in June, I found myself on the roof of a 

bombed-out hospital in Aleppo. It was pitch black 

because the city’s east side was without electricity. 

My colleagues and I watched jets fly by, dropping bombs 

on the outskirts of the besieged region. Exploding rockets 

could be heard throughout the night. 

I’m a paediatrician in Chicago. This summer, I travelled 

with two of my colleagues from the Syrian American 

Medical Society (SAMS) toAleppo. There, I saw first-hand 

the way this war is maiming children emotionally as well 

as physically. The children I encountered often struggled 

with debilitating trauma. Some had stopped eating; others 

could barely communicate. 

My experience echoes across the country. In one town, 

CNN reported a rash of child suicide attempts. “The children 

are psychologically crushed and tired. When we do 

activities like singing with them, they don’t react at all; they 

don’t laugh like they would normally,” a teacher in the 

western town of Madaya told Save the Children. “They 

draw images of children being butchered in the war, or 

tanks or the siege and lack of food.” 

In a report, the Office of the United Nations High 

Commissioner for Refugees has said that “the most prevalent 

and most significant clinical problems among Syrians 

are emotional disorders, such as: Depression, prolonged 

grief disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and various 

forms of anxiety disorders”. According to Save the 

Children, “the repercussions for the future mental health of 

an entire generation could be catastrophic”.

Scarred children from the Syrian war zone 

I spent some of my time in Syria at the SAMS-supported 

underground hospital M10, the main trauma facility in 

east Aleppo. When we arrived, the orthopaedic surgeon 

changed into his scrubs and went to work in the emergency 

room. I headed to the intensive-care unit, where two children 

were being treated for head and chest wounds. They 

had been struck by a barrel bomb while playing outdoors. 

One of the boys, about 10, died three days later. 

Later, I moved to a different hospital, M2, where there 

was a paediatric ward and clinic. Each day, children 

would be brought by their families or ambulance. They 

suffered from the physical injuries you would expect in a 

war zone: Head injuries, limb amputations and a myriad 

of cuts and bruises. 

Many were also suffering from the trauma of living in 

a war zone. I remember an eight-year-old named Zaira, 

brought in by her parents because she had stopped eating 

and begun to wet her bed nightly. Zaira would get 

hysterical if her parents left the room. When I spoke to 

the child with the help of a female interpreter, she would 

not make eye contact with me. Instead, she looked 

blankly into the distance, what psychologists call “the 

thousand-yard stare”. 

I saw another family with three children, ages three, 

five and seven. A barrel bomb had destroyed their apartment; 

they lived with their cousins. The two older children 

were too afraid to sleep indoors at night, so their 

father set up a makeshift tent in the alley and slept there 

with them each night. They could not be convinced that 

sleeping indoors was safer.

Malaysia said on Thursday 

that a large piece of aircraft 

debris discovered on the 

island of Pemba, off the coast

from the missing Malaysia 

Airlines jet MH370. 

A search of more than two 

years has turned up few traces

disappeared in March 2014,

Saudi prince warns Iran against

Eid days: Hundreds of people visit Mohenjo Daro

world's famous cultural heritage 

archaeological site, 

Mohenjo Daro, on Eidul 

Azha days. The visitors 

came from various cities 

and towns of Sindh including 

Sukkur, Hyderabad, 

Kandhkot, Kashmore, 

Dadu, Khairpur, Shikarpur, 

Jacobabad, Kambar- 

Shahdadkot and other districts. 

They took selfies and 

danced on the tunes of traditional 

Sindhi songs and 

enjoyed the most. However, 

a woman fainted due to hot 

weather. Ten youngsters 

were arrested by police for 

violating the sanctity of the 

historic site. Later, they 

were released. The tourists, 

including men, women and 

children, went to Stupa, 

museum, DK & other areas 

and were wondered to see 

how their antecedents were
