Holliston Garden Club Hosts “Container Gardening for the Holidays”
Program by Deborah Trickett on November 4 Open to All
The Holliston Garden Club
has announced that the presenter
at their traditional holiday program
will be Deborah Trickett,
the owner of The Captured Garden,
an award-winning container
garden designer and a Massachusetts
certified horticulturist and
landscape professional. Unique
winter boxes and other containers
will be created as a live demonstration
on Friday, November
4, 2016 beginning at 7:30 p.m/
at St. Mary’s Church Parish Hall,
at 8 Church Street in Holliston.
A wide array of hors d’oeuvres
and sweets prepared by Garden
Club members will precede the
demonstration, starting at 7 p.m.
Deborah delights in creating
beautiful, unique designs by
combining unusual plant material
and creative design ideas to
create containers that are truly
one-of-a-kind. She has worked
in the garden industry for over 30
years, starting with a greenhouse
job at age 13. Deborah has spoken
at the New England Spring
Flower show and the Philadelphia
International Flower Show,
and teaches classes at the Arnold
Arboretum in Boston. Her work
has been featured in the Boston
Globe, The American Gardner,
Garden Gate and New England
Home magazines as well as
on the TV show New England
Dream Home.
Proceeds from the event will
benefit the Holliston Garden
Club’s many civic projects, which
include tree and flower plantings
throughout the town, programs
for children and seniors, and
Arbor Day events. The Club also
provides scholarships and educational
grants to benefit Holliston
students. There is a raffle table
and a raffle drawing of Deborah
Tricketts containers following the
program.
Tickets for “Designing Container
Gardens” are $12 in
advance and $15 at the door. Advance
tickets may be purchased

St. Michael’s
Applefest,
Saturday,
October 1st
St. Michael’s, at 1162 Highland Street, Holliston,
will hold its annual Applefest from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
on Saturday, October first. This event includes a huge
tag sale, homemade jams and jellies, baked goods
table, raffles, pumpkin decorating, face painting, food,
beverages and much more…including flu shots! For

joined Representative
Carolyn
Dykema for her
annual Senior Picnic
at the YMCA
in Hopkinton on
Wednesday, August 31st. Secretary of Elder Affairs Alice Bonner,
Congresswoman Katherine Clark, State and Senator Jamie Eldridge
joined in the festivities with Representative Dykema and spoke about
current issues and state initiatives relevant to seniors.

Christina is also an avid runner
and is training for her first marathon
in November. Competing is
in Christina’s DNA, and we all
know she joined the right team!
