LITTER/TRASH FAQS -
KEEP YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN
In the recent past there has been an uptick in
litter lining the streets of the VLP subdivision.
Each resident needs to be come more proactive
when it comes to disposing of “litter” including
cigarette butts. What constitutes litter? Litter
is trash that is not disposed of properly in a
trashcan. When it’s in the trashcan, it becomes
garbage. The following items are definitely and
undeniably litter:

• Cigarette butts • Gum and gum wrappers
• Plastic water bottles • Beer/wine containers
Please be aware that littering is against the law
and you can be fined up to $500 for trash less
than or equal to five pounds or five gallons.
Repeat the offense and you could face a fine up to
$2,000 and 180 days in jail. Any law enforcement
officer in Texas can enforce these laws. Let’s all
do our part in keeping our streets free of litter.
The HOA has provided trashcans throughout
the neighborhood to facilitate easy disposing of
litter while out on the streets. Together we can
maintain a clean and beautiful neighborhood.
COMMUNITY POOL & 2016 POOL CARDS
Sweetwater Pools currently manages the VLP pool.
The VLP pool is open Tuesdays-Sundays, 5 AM-10
PM year round for your enjoyment. It is CLOSED on
Monday for chemical applications. Please consider
the following pool rules, while using the Pool:
• Pool parties are not allowed at the pool.
• Private swim lessons are not allowed at the
community pool due to vendor and insurance
compliance.
• Keep the pool area and bathrooms clean.
• The life rings are not to be used as toys. In case
of any eventuality at the pool, they are critical for
safety and rescue operation.
• If brought down to the pool deck, please return
the patio chairs to the covered patio.
• In addition, to these, a complete list of rules is
posted at the pool.
The security camera system has been upgraded
for improved vision and monitoring.
POOL CARDS
Pool cards WILL BE updated for the season.
Recently, there have been minor issues with the
card reader at the gate, which have affected access.
Crews have been out to address these issues.
For problems with a card or if you need to order
another one, please contact Matthew Maier at FSR.
POOL ISSUES:
• To report an “issue” - any suspicious activity,
vandalism or non-residents using the pool, please
call Deputy Glentzer at 713-471-1882 or dial 911.
• If there is an issue with the pool itself,
Sweetwater’s contact number is 281-988-8480.
Together, we can help keep the community in top
shape for all residents to enjoy.
BE A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER
It is required by law, to have all pets leashed
while not inside your home or backyard. If
someone is hurt due to your animal, you will be
held liable. In addition, common areas are for
all to enjoy, so pick up after your pet. Additional
trash receptacles have been installed to make
this more convenient. There have been incidents
of coyotes roaming VLP and reports that some
pets have been attacked. Please be vigilant.
PARKED CARS IN THE STREETS
BE CONSIDERATE OF YOUR NEIGHBORS
AND PARK IN YOUR DRIVEWAY!
There have been numerous reports of vehicles being
parked in the streets… so many cars and trucks that
emergency vehicles, school buses, mail carriers and
waste management trucks cannot get down the streets
of VLP. This has become a very dangerous situation,
should emergency vehicles need to get through. In
addition, it is hazardous to residents walking and
biking to navigate through the parked cars when
oncoming traffic is present. The trash company has
informed us that if they cannot pass through the
parked cars, they will not be able to collect the trash.
Cars will be checked for the length of time they
are parked in the streets. Also, if service vehicles
cannot get down the street due to obstruction by
your vehicle, you could be held responsible.
NON-EMERGENCY VS EMERGENCY CALLS
Call 713-221-6000 with non-emergency calls and
911 with emergencies. Non-emergencies include
anything suspicious, though non-life threatening.
VLP SAFETY TIPS
Officer Glentzer shares valuable information
regarding safety. Please promply collect your
packages when they are delivered, as thieves are
more than ready to take parcels left on doorsteps.
When shopping or stopping at the bank, be aware of
your surroundings and ALWAYS lock your car. Please
be sure to follow these tips to safeguard your homes:
• Activate your alarm when leaving • Lock all
windows and doors before leaving • Place a lock on
your backyard gate so would be burglars do not have
access to your backyard • Check into updating and
upgrading your alarm system and installing glass
break sensors and test system for accuracy • Place
alarm signs/stickers in visible places • Make sure
each of your vehicles has a VLP sticker displayed
(stickers can be obtained at monthly Board
meetings) • Remove all valuables and always lock
vehicles • Get to know your neighbors and become
familiar with their vehicles - notice cars that seem
suspicious • Call 713-221-6000 with non-emergency
issues and 911 with emergencies • Let our very own
Deputy Glentzer (713-471-1882) know if you will be
away so he can keep an eye on your home.
To obtain an alarm permit, please contact Harris
County Alarm Detail at 713-755-4600 or visit
www.hcso.hctx.net.
