QUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
Our commitment is to manufacture sustainable quality homes.
Our ways of working will mean we will produce almost no waste and our
homes will be almost 100% recyclable, therefore meeting the objectives
of the Circular Economy.
Due to the flexibility in design and the quality control benefits that factory
based modular manufacturing offer, it is possible to consistently deliver
dwellings with very high levels of through-life energy efficiency, so making
them cheaper to heat and light, less prone to overheating and having a much
lower through-life carbon footprint than more traditionally built homes.
In addition, the “fabric first” design (i.e. the insulation qualities of the walls,
floors, ceilings and roof section) reduces energy demand, meaning that
the homes can be delivered with lower capital expenditure on infrastructure.
In turn, this reduced infrastructure requires less energy to run, reduces
through-life maintenance and offers cheaper replacement costs when items
such as boilers need to be replaced.
Our Integrated Management System at every factory site will be
certified by an independent UKAS accredited certification body for
Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001
and ISO 9001 respectively).
The management systems will also be certified and conform to the
specific design, manufacture, and construction system requirements of
the “BuildOffsite Property Assurance Scheme” (BOPAS) and the product
requirements of the BLP “Durability and Maintenance Assessment Scheme”.
We will work with our Principal Contractor partners to deliver
a full start to finish, sustainable quality housing solution.
“Clearly, as one of the region’s key social housing providers,
First Wessex would wish, where possible to support such an
initiative as any help with job creation and affordable housing
in the region matters to us all.”
